I. Sin Offering (Leviticus 4:13-21, 27-35) FORGIVENESS

F. Comes before all of the other sacrifices

G. Blood covering

H. Person bringing it must lay their hands on it for the transference of sins and then personally slay it to see that it was personal guilt.

I. Blood was applied three places:

1. Brazen Altar

2. Seven times before the veil

3. Applied to the incense altar

II. Trespass Offering (Leviticus 5:1-6:7) RESTORATION

A. Also called the “guilt offering”

B. For restoration and healing

C. For deliberate trespasses against God’s boundaries

D. This is in addition to the sin offering

E. Sacrifice of a female from the flock, a lamb, or a kid from the goats

F. Poor: Sacrifice of two doves

1. First for sin offering

2. Second for a burnt offering

G. Very poor: One tenth of an ephah of flour as a sin offering. No oil or frankincense on it.

1. Handful burned as a memorial with fire on the altar.

2. Rest of the flour shall be for the priest as a grain offering.

H. The priest makes atonement for him concerning his sin

I. Required when we trespass against the Lord or against another person.

1. Make restitution

2. Restore with one-fifth more

J. The trespass offering not only deals with forgiveness but with restitution with God or with our brother from the heart.

K. Mandatory offering

III. Peace Offering (Leviticus 3:1-17; 19:5-7) COMMUNION

A. Praise and worship offering

B. Sacrifice to strike a friendship or alliance between God and man (Communion could also be applied)

C. This is the main offering at Pentecost.

1. When we offer it the Holy Spirit comes.

D. This offering is given as a sweet smelling savor to the Lord.

E. In this offering we bless ourselves and others.

IV. Meal Offering (Leviticus 2:1-16) PRAISE AND THANKSGIVING

A. A sweet smelling savor to the Lord.

B. Memorial offering (Acts 10:1-4)
C. Central to thanksgiving

D. Comes after a victory in the Old Testament as an expression of thanks

V. Burnt Offering (Leviticus 6:8-13) LIFESTYLE OF WORSHIP

A. No one ate this offering.

B. This offering was to be totally consumed.

C. Offering made by fire as a sweet aroma.

D. Two male lambs daily, one offered in the evening and one offered in the morning.

E. God lights the original fire.

F. Fire never to go out.

G. Associated with the Feast of Tabernacles and the Day of Atonement.

1. Each man must afflict his own soul (death process)

2. If they did not do this they were cut off from the congregation

H. Romans 12:1 Offer up our bodies as a living sacrifice, which is our reasonable service of worship.
