I. We are involved in a fight
A. Between good and evil
B. Between light and darkness
C. Between flesh and Spirit
D. Between problem and promise
E. We are to fight the good fight of faith
F. Through faith we obtain a good testimony---one that pleases God
G. Our testimony is to be that we live by faith
II. What faith is
A. Faith is NOW
B. Faith is the substance of things hoped for
C. Faith is the evidence of things not seen
III. Enemies of Faith
A. Natural human reasoning: Faith gives us a foundation for understanding
(Creation; Peter walking on water)
B. Apathy : Faith brings excellence in sacrifice (Abel)
C. Fear: Faith gives us courage (David and Goliath)
D. Doubt: Faith is assurance in what we cannot see
(Thomas)
E. Unbelief: Faith believes the good report (Jairus’ daughter;
Joshua and Caleb vs. the ten spies with evil reports)
F. Delays: Faith gives us patience (Abraham)
G. Obstacles: Faith moves mountains (Jericho)
H. Pleasures of sin: Faith is knowing there is reward and judgment
I. Suffering: Faith is trusting God when we cannot seem to
get answers for our pain (Job)
J. Disobedience: Faith obeys God no matter the cost (Abraham
and Isaac)
K. Fear of man: Faith honors God above the esteem and opinion
of man (Moses refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter)
L. Pride: Faith is knowing who God is
M. Religion: Faith is trusting in God’s way of salvation
N. Excuses: Faith is responding to God TODAY
IV. Time of Response
A. How are you doing in your fight of faith?
B. What kind of testimony do you have before God?
C. What is God calling you to do TODAY?
