The Kingdom of God is like a Seed

Matthew 13:31-32

I.              God extends His kingdom by planting seeds—spiritual seeds

A.               Parable of the Mustard Seed

B.                God doesn’t start big. He starts with a seed.

C.               Do not despise the day of small beginnings

II.           God started with seeds in creation

A.               Genesis 1:11-12

B.                Genesis 2:4-5

C.               Genesis 2:8-9

D.               God brought vegetation out of the ground and it seems that He did it by planting seeds

III.        God gave man the responsibility to till and keep the Garden

A.               The power is in the seed

B.                The seed will grow if we

1.          Till the ground

2.          Plant the seed

3.          Water the seed

IV.       People are God’s field (1 Corinthians 3:5-9a)

A.               One plants the seeds of the kingdom

B.                Another waters the seeds

C.               God gives the increase (releases the potential of the seed)

V.          Parable of the Soils (Mark 4:13-20)

A.               The seed is the word of God (Mark 4:14)

B.                The soil is the heart (Matthew 13:3-33)

VI.       God gives us the responsibility to:

A.               Prepare the ground through prayer

B.                Plant the seeds of God’s word

C.               Water the seeds with love

VII.    God brings forth great things from small seeds!
