I.
THE SECOND CALL OF GOD
A.      The first call found in Jonah 1:1—2  “The word of the Lord came to Jonah son of Amattai:  ‘Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it, because its wickedness has come up before me.”
1.       at the first call Jonah ran away
2.       resulted in his chastisement
B.      The second call:
1.       v. 1 “Then the word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time:”
a.       God
(1)     calls Jonah a second time
(a)     after Jonah’s chastisement
(b)     after Jonah being in the belly of the great fish for 3 days and nights
(2)     shows mercy to Jonah
(a)     could have told Jonah “You said ‘No, the first time: therefore, I can’t use you this time.”
