I. Introduction:

A. Introduce New Series: Getting to Know God
Share my own testimony of how I prayed and ask God to help me and the steps He took me through.
B. Today’s Sermon:
Begin with a series of questions:
What do you do when you do not have peace?
Do I seek God, turn down my plate, pursue God with all I have?
How do you get peace in times of pain, frustration, injustice, inequality?
What do I do in the days of no peace?
Do you include God in your search for peace, for solace, for answers?
What do I do when I don’t know exactly what to do?
Where do I turn when I have no peace?
What do I say when I do not feel peace?
How is peace used as a guide?
This morning, I want to briefly talk you you
Today, I want to help you get to know God a little better. God wants to reveal Himself to us as Jehovah Shalom: The Lord is Peace or My God, My Peace!
He will reveal this through three main points:
What are the common threads in all of the details about what is not right…any main topics or subjects keep coming up?
Now pour through the scriptures on those topics...
Write down as many scriptures that stand out to you about a topic.
Put those scriptures on note cards and memorize those scriptures.
Begin to pray those scriptures back to God and speak what the Word says about your situation.
God inhabits the praises of His people...
In His presence is the fullness of Joy and at His right hand, there are pleasures evermore...
He is Jehovah Shalom (my God, my Peace)...
Where is the scripture did God reveal Himself as Jehovah Shalom?
AND why did He choose to do so at that time… what was going on?
Do you need to know Him as Peace?
Where do you need peace in your life?
Come today for prayer in those areas...
No one will judge you today…come as you are...
God, I need you....
He who comes to Him must first believe that He is and that He alone is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

II. MAIN POINT #1:

God defeats our enemies to bring us peace:

What are the biggest enemies to peace: fear, anxiety, anger, frustration, the unknown,
Why is it that our first instinct as humans is to fear what we do not understand…the unknown?
Numbers 6:22–27 KJV 1900
22 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, 23 Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, On this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel, saying unto them, 24 The Lord bless thee, and keep thee: 25 The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: 26 The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. 27 And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them.

III. MAIN POINT #2:

II. Jesus is our Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6).

Jesus is our Prince of Peace ().

Isaiah 9:6 KJV 1900
6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: And the government shall be upon his shoulder: And his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:2–6 KJV 1900
2 The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: They that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined. 3 Thou hast multiplied the nation, and not increased the joy: They joy before thee according to the joy in harvest, And as men rejoice when they divide the spoil. 4 For thou hast broken the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, The rod of his oppressor, as in the day of Midian. 5 For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, And garments rolled in blood; But this shall be with burning and fuel of fire. 6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: And the government shall be upon his shoulder: And his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

IV. MAIN POINT #3:

Isaiah 9:1–6 KJV 1900
1 Nevertheless the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation, When at the first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, And afterward did more grievously afflict her by the way of the sea, Beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations.

Isaiah 9:2-6
Hebrews 13:20–21 KJV 1900
20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, 21 Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

IV. MAIN POINT #3:

God brings us inner peace and harmony (“that sense that all is alright in my world right now”)

God’s message to Gideon (Judges 6:22-24):

Judges 6:22–24 KJV 1900
22 And when Gideon perceived that he was an angel of the Lord, Gideon said, Alas, O Lord God! for because I have seen an angel of the Lord face to face. 23 And the Lord said unto him, Peace be unto thee; fear not: thou shalt not die. 24 Then Gideon built an altar there unto the Lord, and called it Jehovah-shalom: unto this day it is yet in Ophrah of the Abi-ezrites.

Psalm 119:165
Psalm 119:165 KJV 1900
165 Great peace have they which love thy law: And nothing shall offend them.

In times like these, we need peace: this week’s Verdict in Missouri, last week’s Hurricane Irma, the week before that was Hurricane Harvey.
Psalm 119:161–168 KJV 1900
161 SCHIN. Princes have persecuted me without a cause: But my heart standeth in awe of thy word. 162 I rejoice at thy word, As one that findeth great spoil. 163 I hate and abhor lying: But thy law do I love. 164 Seven times a day do I praise thee Because of thy righteous judgments. 165 Great peace have they which love thy law: And nothing shall offend them. 166 Lord, I have hoped for thy salvation, And done thy commandments. 167 My soul hath kept thy testimonies; And I love them exceedingly. 168 I have kept thy precepts and thy testimonies: For all my ways are before thee.
Isaiah 48:17–22 KJV 1900
17 Thus saith the Lord, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the Lord thy God which teacheth thee to profit, Which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go. 18 O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! Then had thy peace been as a river, And thy righteousness as the waves of the sea: 19 Thy seed also had been as the sand, And the offspring of thy bowels like the gravel thereof; His name should not have been cut off nor destroyed from before me. 20 Go ye forth of Babylon, flee ye from the Chaldeans, With a voice of singing declare ye, tell this, Utter it even to the end of the earth; Say ye, The Lord hath redeemed his servant Jacob. 21 And they thirsted not when he led them through the deserts: He caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them: He clave the rock also, and the waters gushed out. 22 There is no peace, saith the Lord, unto the wicked.
Isaiah
In times like these: THESE ARE THE DAYS OF NO PEACE, we need His peace:
The Bible says:

2 Corinthians 4:8 KJV 1900
8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
2 Corinthians 4:8–10 KJV 1900
8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; 10 Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.
We are troubled on every side

V. Conclusion:

Hebrews 13:20–25 KJV 1900
20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, 21 Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. 22 And I beseech you, brethren, suffer the word of exhortation: for I have written a letter unto you in few words. 23 Know ye that our brother Timothy is set at liberty; with whom, if he come shortly, I will see you. 24 Salute all them that have the rule over you, and all the saints. They of Italy salute you. 25 Grace be with you all. Amen.
Isaiah 48:1–22 KJV 1900
1 Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, Which are called by the name of Israel, And are come forth out of the waters of Judah, Which swear by the name of the Lord, And make mention of the God of Israel, But not in truth, nor in righteousness. 2 For they call themselves of the holy city, And stay themselves upon the God of Israel; The Lord of hosts is his name. 3 I have declared the former things from the beginning; And they went forth out of my mouth, and I shewed them; I did them suddenly, and they came to pass. 4 Because I knew that thou art obstinate, And thy neck is an iron sinew, And thy brow brass; 5 I have even from the beginning declared it to thee; Before it came to pass I shewed it thee: Lest thou shouldest say, Mine idol hath done them, And my graven image, and my molten image, hath commanded them. 6 Thou hast heard, see all this; And will not ye declare it? I have shewed thee new things from this time, Even hidden things, and thou didst not know them. 7 They are created now, and not from the beginning; Even before the day when thou heardest them not; Lest thou shouldest say, Behold, I knew them. 8 Yea, thou heardest not; yea, thou knewest not; Yea, from that time that thine ear was not opened: For I knew that thou wouldest deal very treacherously, And wast called a transgressor from the womb. 9 For my name’s sake will I defer mine anger, And for my praise will I refrain for thee, That I cut thee not off. 10 Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction. 11 For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: For how should my name be polluted? And I will not give my glory unto another. 12 Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last. 13 Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, And my right hand hath spanned the heavens: When I call unto them, they stand up together. 14 All ye, assemble yourselves, and hear; Which among them hath declared these things? The Lord hath loved him: He will do his pleasure on Babylon, And his arm shall be on the Chaldeans. 15 I, even I, have spoken; yea, I have called him: I have brought him, and he shall make his way prosperous. 16 Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; From the time that it was, there am I: And now the Lord God, and his Spirit, hath sent me.
