Apostle Paul A.D. 5-A.D. 67. Established the church in Corinth in A.D. 50. Kept in regular communication with the church. Things at the church went sideways soon after he left. There was conflict between legalists on one side and liberals on the other. All around was a improperA first letter prompted him to write a second letter, which we know as 1 Corinthians. Even after a second visit, things didn’t improvem his leadership was rebuffed, so he sent a third letter, expressing his sorrow at their stubbornness. He wrote his fourth letter, 2 Corinthians, while on his way to Corinth for a third visit. Along the way he met Titus, who brought good news about the Corinthian Church.
Treasure in Cardboard Boxes
Treasure in Cardboard Boxes
How often do we give presents to our children, only to have them derive more pleasure from the box than the gift itself?
What does that tell us about us?
What does that tell us about gifts?
What is Paul telling us?
The gift is better than the container: we are the cardboard boxes, the Gospel is the gift. Let us not wrap ourselves up, dressing up the cardboard box, rather, let’s make the box as insignificant as possible, so that the focus goes on the Gospel, on Christ, not on us—Amish intentions.

The Gospel Is Our Treasure
The Gospel Is Our Treasure
There’s nothing greater in all the planet than the Gospel message. As gospel packages, we need to send the gospel all over, so that we can communicate it to everyone everywhere.
Focus
Focus
The focus of this church’s foundation hasn’t changed. God’s mercies are new every morning. But what good are new mercies if they’re not appreciated? If they’re not shared?
The gospel is our benefit—so that it can be reaching more and more people, causing thanksgiving to the glory of God.
We have this challenge: to live up to the foundation laid by those who have gone before us, some of who are still with us. To share the good news with others.
