Introduction
A. Continued Series:
This week, we are continuing our series on Getting to Know God.
Over the past several months, we found that sometimes God chooses to reveal Himself as:
1. Jehovah-Shalom: The Lord, My Peace-
Philippians 4:6-8; Numbers 6:22–27; Isaiah 9:1–6; Psalm 119:161–168;
Hebrews 13:20–21; Isaiah 48:17–22; Judges 6:11–27
2. Jehovah-Rohi: The Lord, My Shepherd-
Psalm 23:1–3; John 10:1–18; 1 Peter 2:24–25
3. Jehovah-Jireh: The Lord, My Provider-
Philippians 4:19; Genesis 22:1–18; Mark 10:45; John 6:35; Romans 8:2; John 3:16
4. Jehovah-Rapha: The Lord, My Healer-
Psalm 103:3; I Peter 2:24; Isaiah 53:4-5; Exodus 15:20-27; 3 John 2; Luke 4:18; Psalm 147:1-12; Jeremiah 30:12-24
5. Jehovah-Nissi: The Lord, My Banner of Victory.
Exodus 17:15-16; Deuteronomy 20:3-4; Isaiah 11:10-12; Ephesians 6:10-18
6.
El Shaddai: The All Sufficient One, God Almighty, and the God of the Mountains
Genesis 17:1-3; Genesis 18:1-14; Genesis 48:3; Genesis 49:25; Genesis 35:11; Psalm 90:2; Proverbs 3:5-6; Philippians 4:4-8
B. Today’s Sermon:
This week we will look at how God chose to reveal Himself to as:
El Roi- The God Who Sees Me
Immanuel- God with us; I am
Jehovah-Tsidkenu- The Lord, Our Righteousness
We move along and find out more and more about the Father God, I have a question for you: WHY does God choose to reveal Himself to us? (The audience’s answers may vary).
Look over at someone and say, El Roi, Immanuel, and Jehovah-Tsidkenu.
We will see how God is revealed to us in His Word as El Roi, Immanuel and Jehovah-Tsidkenu when we look more closely at the following points:
First, let’s look at El Roi- The God who sees me:
Did you know that there are no circumstances in our lives that escape His fatherly awareness and care?
God sees and knows us AND our troubles.
God knows our thoughts and feelings.
Jesus knew the thoughts of those around Him, demonstrating that He is El Roi.
Secondly, Immanuel means that God is with us; He is the great I Am.
Jesus was more than just a man; He was God in our midst:
In Him all the fullness of the deity dwells in bodily form: He is the radiance of God’s Glory and the exact representation of His nature.
Lastly, let’s look at how God chose to reveal Himself as Jehovah-Tsidkenu: The Lord, Our Righteousness.
Jesus is the One who would come from David’s lineage.
God promised to send a King who would reign wisely, just and right, so that the people could live in safety.
All people sin and fall short of the Glory of God.
God knows that and that is why He is the One who imparts His Righteousness to us through Jesus.
Conclusion:
With every head bowed and every eye closed:
For altar call, play “You’re All I Want” by Michael W. Smith.
Make the following appeals:
Is anyone in need of repenting for anything this morning?
Have you been walking in your feelings, in doubt, perhaps in fear?
What need is it that you have for the Lord to meet?
Have you accepted the ultimate sacrifice that Jesus made for you?
Do you feel like other people’s needs are worthy of being met and not yours?
If you asked yourself those questions and found that you need prayer for any of those areas, then come this morning as the altar is open for us all.
Let us seek our All-Seeing, Ever-Present, and Righteous Lord this morning and love on Him.
No one will judge you today…come as you are...
Now remember that whoever comes to God, must first believe that He is and that He alone is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
How many are willing to cry out this morning:
God, I need to know you as:
El-Roi- The God Who sees me
Immanuel- God with us; The great I Am
Jehovah-Tsidkenu- The Lord, Our Righteousness!
