Chapter 7— End of reformation

Worship service — Luther’s contribution
1534 - Complete German Bible
1523- An Order of Mass and communion for the Church at Wittenberg
1526 - The German Mass and Order of Service (1526)
Every October 31st — We start the reformation…the start and not the conclusion. 95 Theses still need us to oil it at night.
We are a part of a man who is content with a message.
The whole sermon and service should centered in the Word and Sacrament ( man of Jesus Christ).
Peasant’ war — 1525 — treaties summed up his intentions: Against the Robbing and Murdering Hordes of Peasants: 1. Broken their oaths of loyalty to their landlords, had gone on a robbing and murdering rampage, and had excused all this on the basis of Christian freedom.
“Luther told the landlords, “Let everyone who can, smite, slay, and stab… remembering that nothing can be more poisonous, hurtful, or devilish than a rebel. It is just as when one must kill a mad dog” LW 46:50
-Admonition to Peace - A Reply to the Twelve Articles of the Peasants in Swabia (April 1525)
There is no separate of church and state.
Peasant’s - if we are free from the law, we are free from all thing.
Landlord was evil
Peasants 80-100 thousands were butchered.
Spring time Luther — Think that the gospel can change people’s heart easily.
Marriage —
Ephesians 5:32 NIV
This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church.
Leviticus 18:6–28 NIV
“ ‘No one is to approach any close relative to have sexual relations. I am the Lord. “ ‘Do not dishonor your father by having sexual relations with your mother. She is your mother; do not have relations with her. “ ‘Do not have sexual relations with your father’s wife; that would dishonor your father. “ ‘Do not have sexual relations with your sister, either your father’s daughter or your mother’s daughter, whether she was born in the same home or elsewhere. “ ‘Do not have sexual relations with your son’s daughter or your daughter’s daughter; that would dishonor you. “ ‘Do not have sexual relations with the daughter of your father’s wife, born to your father; she is your sister. “ ‘Do not have sexual relations with your father’s sister; she is your father’s close relative. “ ‘Do not have sexual relations with your mother’s sister, because she is your mother’s close relative. “ ‘Do not dishonor your father’s brother by approaching his wife to have sexual relations; she is your aunt. “ ‘Do not have sexual relations with your daughter-in-law. She is your son’s wife; do not have relations with her. “ ‘Do not have sexual relations with your brother’s wife; that would dishonor your brother. “ ‘Do not have sexual relations with both a woman and her daughter. Do not have sexual relations with either her son’s daughter or her daughter’s daughter; they are her close relatives. That is wickedness. “ ‘Do not take your wife’s sister as a rival wife and have sexual relations with her while your wife is living. “ ‘Do not approach a woman to have sexual relations during the uncleanness of her monthly period. “ ‘Do not have sexual relations with your neighbor’s wife and defile yourself with her. “ ‘Do not give any of your children to be sacrificed to Molek, for you must not profane the name of your God. I am the Lord. “ ‘Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable. “ ‘Do not have sexual relations with an animal and defile yourself with it. A woman must not present herself to an animal to have sexual relations with it; that is a perversion. “ ‘Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways, because this is how the nations that I am going to drive out before you became defiled. Even the land was defiled; so I punished it for its sin, and the land vomited out its inhabitants. But you must keep my decrees and my laws. The native-born and the foreigners residing among you must not do any of these detestable things, for all these things were done by the people who lived in the land before you, and the land became defiled. And if you defile the land, it will vomit you out as it vomited out the nations that were before you.

We celebrate 500 Reformation because we are a part of this one man who have the zeal and heart to lead people back to the Bible. So much work and so much obstacles that fight against a man who wanted to lead the world back to the scripture.
Lack of the Word and poor church attendant. Poor being a student of the Word.
Since most individuals come into contact with the gospel on Sundays, we need to be clear in preparation and preaching.
It was through the Word and Sacraments that the people left the Catholic and became Lutheran.
Why my parents want to feed me vegetable all the time, because it is good for your body. Same for the Word. Worship can....
Discussion:
T or F The Bible is in English and yet people don’t appreciated it.
Evaluate: Since most individuals come into contact with the gospel on Sundays, we need to be clear in preparation and preaching.
Just reading or doing the liturgy.... Better prepare or else you are not fit for this portion or Word. It helps people to see christ.
Why we have this confession every Sunday?
3. Reminder: We need to be careful what we write.
People are look for words and turn it for other ways. IF it is please the Lord, I don’t care what you think.
4. Decide: The view of marriage in our day is not much different than in Luther’s time.
5. Agree/Disagree Grace gets old
A. Personally
B. Professionally
6. Determine: Making man bigger makes Christ smaller.
7. How do we highlight “is” equals “is” in the Lord’s Supper?
How do we educate basis Bible knowledge?
How do we use the Augsburg and Smalcald Articles
8. Clarify: Ministry never ends. Vow, that I will preach and teach purely.
