A description of Worship

#. An awareness of God               (v. 1- ‘I saw the Lord…’)

#. Adoration                                 (v. 3- ‘Holy, Holy, Holy…’)

#. Confession                               (v. 5- ‘Woe is me…’)

#. Assurance of Forgiveness         (v. 7- ‘Your guilt is removed…’)

#. Challenge to Commitment         (v. 8- ‘Whom shall I send…’)

#. Obedience to Challenge            (v. 8- ‘Here am I…’)

Special Moments in Worship

The moment of the Beginning

  • Aim is to assist persons in being aware that together we are meeting with an awesome and Holy God

The moment of Praise and Adoration (Songs, Scripture reading…) Praise IN Worship

  • Aim is to enable the congregation to appreciate and honour the name, nature and being of our God in all His fullness

The moment of Prayer (Invocation, Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Intercession)

  • Here the congregation learns that prayer is vital for the spiritual life and that prayer is more than individual expression

The moment of Fellowship and Sharing (Welcome, Greeting Time, Announcements, Testimony, Offertory, etc.)

  • These are times of celebrating what God is doing in the church both individually and corporately

The moment of Listening (Scripture reading, Sermon, Special items)

  • This is not the time for speaking, or singing along. It is the time for listening.

The moment of Response

  • Opportunities for congregational response is given

The moment of Ending

  • The blessing is given as persons go out to live and serve in the world
