Introduction:
I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

This is the way to overcome sin!
Why?
flesh and Spirit are in opposition
Lust- our physical desires which lead to sin.
Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.
Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members? You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.

This is not an all inclusive list.
All which are on here and not listed are equally bad in God’s eyes.
These works of the flesh run the gambit:
Sexual sins
adultery, fornication, lewdness
Sins against other people
wrath, ambitions, dissensions, envy, murder
Sins against our own bodies
drunkeness, sorcery (pharmikeia) [drug use to alter the state of consciousness to commune with demons]
False Doctrine
idolatry, heresies,
Don’t misuse this passage!
But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
“those who practice such things will not inherit the Kingdom”
This doesn’t mean people by these acts live this way.
It DOESN’T mean people loose their salvation
IT DOES mean lost people live in the flesh and their lusts lead them to manifest these works.

Galatians 5:18-

This demonstrates the change God’s Spirit brings in our lives.
We have crucified the flesh along with its lusts
Our old man is dead!
I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
The law never brought this kind of change!
ESV. Let us keep in step with the Spirit.
