Ac 4:23-31. Dan Kroon. The church's prayer in Acts 4 teaches us a lot about dependence on God. It is a reminder that we pray to a God who is totally sovereign – ruling over creation, speaking through revelation, and acting in history. So, when we are faced with opposition or persecution, we know our God is in complete control. This means prayer is the most important thing we can do in such situations; in all situations. We pray and we ask God to "consider the threats" against us, to "enable us to speak boldly", and to "stretch out his powerful hand". Whatever might be facing us, whether political or spiritual, whether internal or external, God's power and will is ultimate.
