Last week we looked at who is Jesus.
Title- Why did Jesus die?
Title- Why did Jesus die?
If we are being honest, many of us have questioned or you are questioning why did Jesus die. Why if God is so loving, send his son to die a horrific death?
Pray.
We must be careful when we go over a topic like this or ask the question that we do not include God in the conversation.
It is easy to take a stance that sounds like this. “if God is so powerful couldn't he have found a better way?”
It is easy to say that we have thought of a better way. Its easy to think that our ways and thoughts make more sense that the creator of the entire universe.
Gods way is infinity higher than our ways.
Gods thoughts are not our thoughts.
Last week we looked at who is Jesus.
Isaiah 55:8 ESV
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.
isaha 55:8
The God that created the universe, created all that we see, created the very air we breath today, created you and I. Does no wrong, is perfectly just, perfectly holy, the love he intends for us is the purest form of love the world has ever seen.
Gods work is perfect!
Deuteronomy 32:4 ESV
“The Rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and upright is he.
deut 32:4
Gods plan for salvation is perfect. Nobody could have came up with anything better. It is perfect!
Tell the person next to you, Gods plan is perfect.

The punishment for sin is death.

God created the earth and men and women perfect. When Adam and eve disobeyed Gods command he had to punish them.
If Judges were to pardon law breaking citizens he or she would be an unjust judge.
The same would be for God. If God was to overlook sin he would be a unjust Judge.
Romans 6:23 ESV
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Your works and my works are not good enough to pay for the wrong we have done.
when we compare ourselves to a perfect holy God we are as filthy rags.
Isaiah 64:6 ESV
We have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment. We all fade like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.
isa
You see brothers and sisters, Sin is not Just Murder, or blasphemy.
it includes the love of money, anger, lustfull eyes, un forgiveness, disobeying the promoting of the Holy spirit, pride, lying, and many many more.
love of money, anger
The point is we have all disobeyed Gods commands. We all deserved death for our sins. Eternal separation from a perfect holy God.
That is the bad news Thats the news that has the ability to wake us up a bit. That is the reality.
Because I love you all is why I share the truth with you.
As a reminder of last week when we went over the overwhelming evidence of how the scriptures are true and credible.
So when we continue on in this message what im going to read from the bible is true.
The good news is that Gods perfect plan includes us. The good news is we can read what God intended for us.

1 Corinthians 15:3–4 ESV
For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures,
1 cor
You see we needed a sinless man. A blameless man to pay the price of sin. We needed perfect sinless blood to be shed to pay the price we could not. We needed a innocent death.
God may have banished Adam and Eve from the Garden but he left hope. He promised a way of reconciliation.
God sent a saviour to defeat a serpent.
Genesis 3:15 ESV
I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.”
in the original language a va “enmity”. comes from the root word to be hostel towards.
I like the original language better. God was saying I will deliver a fatal blow. “Jesus will crush your head one day”
The way to salvation is brilliant in its simplicity.
2 Corinthians 5:21 ESV
For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
2 cor 2

So why did Jesus die?

The seed
Remember that a holy, perfect God cannot let sin go unpunished. For us to pay the price of our own sins would mean to be cast into hell with eternal separation from God.
May we praise God that he kept his promise. His promise to send a perfect lamb, Jesus to pay the penalty we could not.
Jesus had to die because He is the only one who can pay the penalty for our sins.
