Let not many of you become teachers, my brethren, knowing that as such we will incur a stricter judgment.

Read the Warning Label

James 3:6 NASB95
And the tongue is a fire, the very world of iniquity; the tongue is set among our members as that which defiles the entire body, and sets on fire the course of our life, and is set on fire by hell.
Proverbs 10:8 NASB95
The wise of heart will receive commands, But a babbling fool will be ruined.
James 3:8 NASB95
But no one can tame the tongue; it is a restless evil and full of deadly poison.
Proverbs 10:11 NASB95
The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, But the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.
Proverbs
Proverbs 16:27–28 NASB95
A worthless man digs up evil, While his words are like scorching fire. A perverse man spreads strife, And a slanderer separates intimate friends.
James 3:
Proverbs 16:
Proverbs 18:7–8 NASB95
A fool’s mouth is his ruin, And his lips are the snare of his soul. The words of a whisperer are like dainty morsels, And they go down into the innermost parts of the body.

So why do we need Jesus?

James 3:
James 3:7 NASB95
For every species of beasts and birds, of reptiles and creatures of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by the human race.
James 3:7–12 NASB95
For every species of beasts and birds, of reptiles and creatures of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by the human race. But no one can tame the tongue; it is a restless evil and full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the likeness of God; from the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be this way. Does a fountain send out from the same opening both fresh and bitter water? Can a fig tree, my brethren, produce olives, or a vine produce figs? Nor can salt water produce fresh.
Greek word for tamed is domazo: domesticated. Carries the idea of being subdued.
James 3:8 NASB95
But no one can tame the tongue; it is a restless evil and full of deadly poison.
James:
Bless / curse from the same mouth:
James 3:9 NASB95
With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the likeness of God;
Things o
things ought not be this way.
James 3:11–12 NASB95
Does a fountain send out from the same opening both fresh and bitter water? Can a fig tree, my brethren, produce olives, or a vine produce figs? Nor can salt water produce fresh.
Combat breathing: Yes you can control your heart rate to a degree: if you have a healthy heart.
but if you are in the middle of a heart attack: a breathing exercise isn’t going to save your life.
James 3:
Ezekiel 36:26 NASB95
“Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.
Fig tree produce olives or vine produce figs? Nor can salt water produce fresh?
