So why am i asking all of this?
Well lets read a story shall we? its from the Bible and its found in Mark 10:17-31
Is it Too Hard?
So what do you think?
which of you would right now give away everyone of the things that you own so that you can follow Jesus?
Cause that is what He’s asking!
See this guy who came to talk to Jesus was Rich… and we was willing to DO all the things that a follower of the law should do… he followed the 10 commandments and all… but when Jesus told him to sell all his possession to follow him… he found that he loves his STUFF more than he loved Jesus...
No this is kind of a problem cause like we learned last week.
if you love ANYTHING more than you love Jesus… then you’re not really loving him at all!
Is Jesus being a little too tough?
Is he really?
who can tell me what the first commandment is?
What does it meant o have no other gods?
What is another god?
a “god” is anything we have on earth that we place a higher importance on than god?
in the story the rich mans money became a god before God!
To some it’s your nice dresses, or your wheely shoes, or your phones or tablets.
anything that you would not freely give up to serve God is in danger of becoming your God.
and when that happens you’re breaking the first commandment!
uh oh!
A Challenge!
So this week I’m going to challenge you to do something… I simply want each of you to think about the things that you have in your life.. that you are placing before Jesus.
I want you all to make a list of these things and then I want you to pray to God that he would help you change your attitude towards those things so that you no longer place them ahead of God.
