Here we go. So do we have kids world today? Alright, so here's what I need to do for all the young people who are going the kids were late just need you to stand so we can pray over you a man. Alright, let's buy our heads and pray father. We thank you for our young people. And we ask God that you would cover them from the crown of their heads to the soul of their feet. I pray God that whatever challenges they're going through. Whatever issues. They have Lord that they know that you were listening to their every prayer and I just pray for their families. I pray for them in school. I pray for the instructors that I will be teaching them today that when they come out of that class or they won't be the same. Amen, and so for those of you who were here last week would you know, we started a new series entitled Abundant Life a man and last week we talked about the life that you've been searching for a man. And so today I want to I want to go a little deeper and and deal with the issue of looking back looking back. So the title this message is called don't look back and we touched on it a bit last week and so are foundational scripture is going to come from Genesis Chapter 19 Verse 26 if you stand and he said along with me Genesis chapter 19 and verse number 26 when you eat a have it in your Bible, you see it on the screen just say Amen. All right, let's read that together. But his wife look back behind him and she became a pillar of salt our confession of Faith why let's share that together repeat after me. I am not move. By what I see. or by what I feel I am moved by what I believe. I believe the word of God the victory is mine. I have it now. I can see it through the eyes of my faith in Jesus name. Amen. Let's take a minute to give God some praise. Amen God you are worthy of Praise Lord. You are the alpha and the Omega. You're the beginning in the end Lord. We thank you for this gift of life. We thank you for salvation. We thank you for forgiveness. God we bless you. We we magnify you we glorify you and we give you all praise and honor in Jesus name that lets everybody give got a big hand the phrase. Hey, man, you may be seated in the presence of the Lord. Can we it sounds like there's some echo on my voice. Can we?

Amen just turned amen. Alright, so last week I talked about watching the thief watching the thief watching the thief in John chapter 10 verse 10. The Bible says the thief comes not but to the thief does not come except to steal kill and destroy and Jesus says I've come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly. So we talked about watching things that steal your thyme things that still your energy things that steal your joy things that still your love. And so today I want to talk about don't look back cuz you know, there's some things that you know, we get ourselves into and then we keep bringing them forward a man and goddess said no don't look back but by want to deal with the issue of how do we get ourselves into those situations in the first place so that we won't make the same mistakes again. Does that make sense a man? And so there is this there's this concept that I want to share what you call back sliding face. I mean you can be saved a man and still going backwards in your walk with Christ. Amen. And so I want to talk about this thing called backsliding faith in in the interesting thing about it is is that got already identified it in the Bible a man is who we going to talk about that in Genesis chapter 19 verses one through three So let's go back to keep it up there but let's go back. So I need to kind of preference this for a for everyone. So we're going to be talking about Abraham and lot how many story of Abraham and lot a man we're going to focus on lie, but how how we get to this story is Abraham operated or by faith when God said Abraham Abram at the time Abram, I need you to leave all your family and go to a place where I will show you a man. And so so real quick you got to be able to trust God if you were going to believe who he is able to trust them and when he says something to you he speaking directly to you sometimes everybody can come along with you a man. It's all so God told Abram he says I need you to leave your family, and I need you just to go and and in Abram didn't know it didn't know where he was going, but he trusted God a man now. Along with Abram came his nephew lot and his wife Saray. So they traveled with Abram to a place that the Ravens and no but they trusted God Amen. How many of you have been in situations where God is spoke to you. You've got to trust in. You don't know how things are going to work out, but you got to move for a man. Okay. So here is Abram Saray and life and they're in this place and they settle right. It could be it. Let's say they settled in in San Martine, right? But lot kept looking at San Francisco or San Jose cuz it's all the big lights the bright lights all of the technology and that that Intrigue lot. So even though he was in San Martine his eyes were always on the bright lights in the big city. Sometimes we get our situation in situation where eyes are in a place where God never intended for us to be Hey man, so light was there and he he was looking at the bright lights in the big city of Sodom and Gomorrah and he was like man, you know, I'm trying to get there. That's what I want. So there was a fight between Abraham's servants and lots Irving in April 10th of July like we're both doing good you choose where you want to live in wherever you live. I'll go the opposite way. So live chooses to go to Sodom and Gomorrah write the message is not about Sodom and Gomorrah this and I don't want you to get this twisted like I'm going to sit up here, but they play a part in. Does that make sense? Alright. So here we are in in in lot is in Sodom now, right? He's he's decided this is where I'm going to go but there was a bunch of stuff happening in Sodom and Gomorrah and it got up to God. right It's a godsend down to Angels. And they came in the form of men. Yeah with me. Now I say that to say be careful who you are dressing cuz you don't know if they're Angels or not. Alright, so do right by everybody amen do right by everybody because you never know who you're dressing. So the Bible says in the New Living Translation that that evening the two angels came to the entrance of the city of Sodom lot was sitting there and when he saw them he stood up to meet them. Then he welcome them and bout with his face to the ground Burst 2 says my lords. He said come to my home to wash your feet and be my guest for the night you made then get up early in the morning and be on your way. I'll know they reply will just spend the night out here in the city Square 1st Street, but a lot insisted. So at the last they went home with him live prepare to fish for them completed with fresh bread made with yeast, and they now Locke was a Believer. He believe in God right? Sometimes you can be a believer and still doing worldly things.

Here's a lot because of what he desired in his flesh. He went to the place where they were doing worldly things and he made himself a part of it. But there's something interesting about somebody who inherently has the spirit of God in there when they when lots of these two men annoying everything that was going on in Sodom and Gomorrah. He saw these two men. It said women y'all come home with me. You never know those those friends of those family members who they're not doing right, but they don't want you to do wrong.

So you like no, you can't do that. You don't know I know you know, you stay out of that you said but wait you're doing it. but there's enough in them enough love enough spirit in them that they would rather they get in trouble and you not Are you with me? So he was in the midst of all of this craziness that's going on in Sodom and Gomorrah and when two strangers come up in that in that the that the car when you welcome to be. Will you bring you welcome home when you meet strangers you make you welcome to your home, right? So you said y'all come home matter of fact, I was like you were here. I need y'all to come home and I'm insisting that you come home. With me, does that make sense? Because I knew what was going on and he didn't want them to have to go through it. So it says this begins this shows you how life began to Beck's life. How can you know what to do is write and be in the midst of all of that stuff and and not let that be acceptable to you. Let me say that again. How can you be safe in the midst of all this drama and you accept whatever is going on. That's what happen when life. That was a Believer, but he was in the midst of all of this stuff going on and in the Bible says he accepted it.

Y'all gon make me work here. Amen. Does that make sense? So so so we see in the text here. He says when he met them. He called them my Lord come to my home wash your feet and be my guest and it was like no we just going to hang out in the city. No, no, you can't do that. No, you can't go to that party or you can go to that club or you can't do that and you can no you can't do that. You come home with me, right? No, the question is why was locked there because there was something that Drew lot that was more than the spirit in him until you got to be careful with drawing you to the world. That's more than drawing you the Christ.

Does that make sense? What is it that you're seeing a filling or wanting? That's bigger than your desire to be with Christ and solat found himself in the midst of Sodom and Gomorrah. Not not now. This is the first stage in those of us who are believers going backwards from God as opposed to drawing closer to him. When will all the things of this world to have more Focus? More attention more of our desire then then, is that make sense? Okay. So so here's the first picture of black beckstein we see is with lot started compromising his belief with the world. So my my challenge to us is where we compromising our belief system so that we can be a part of the world.

Look at the text Genesis chapter 9 19 verse 4.

But before they retired for the for the night. all the men of Sodom young and all came from all over the city and surrounded the house.

Verify says they shot it shout it to life. Where are the men who came to spend the night with you bring them out to us so we can have sex with them. 46 solat stepped outside to talk to them shutting the door behind him and he said please my brother's he he big don't do such a wicked thing or say this is when it gets really this is gets crazy. Look at the text. It says lot. This is why I said look, I have two virgin daughters. Let me bring them out to you you can do with them as you wish. But please leave these men alone for they are my guest and under my protection verse 9. They said stand back. This fellow came to town as an outsider. And now he's acting like our judge will treat you far worse than any then those men and they launched towards lot to break down the door first end, but the two angels reached out pull out into the house and bolted the door first then they blinded all the young man young in 04 at the door at the house. So they gave up trying to get inside. So now here we see lot in the midst of this depravity. this craziness This you know to the point where a lot knows it's wrong but he still part of it he into the matter fact the Bible says he called them my brothers. So there was a relationship and he knew what was going on. How is it as Believers if we were looking for the life we're looking for the blessing. How is it as Believers? We can all allow stuff to go on the Wii no doesn't bring us closer to God.

Lots and lots and wait a minute. I know what y'all doing and I'm okay with it. Cuz obviously there's something that he wanted out of that environment. a picture for y'all What is it that you calling yourself a believer in you in the midst of right, you know, it's wrong but you you come up with these justifications off. Well, that's just how it is. Oh, this is what's going on and you got to get with the times and there's no it does not line up with the word of God. So why are you permitting it? Hey man, it's so now. We we begin to see the second picture of a of a Christian. I'm going to say this of a Christian or believer backsliding when you know, it's wrong and you allow yourself to be in the midst of it.

When your morals have been corrupt to Soul, what are more when you corruption that is when you allow the right thing to do? Thank you world are concerned with our relating to human behavior. It's the distinction between good and bad of right and wrong when you know, what's right. right And you don't do the right thing, you're corrupting your morals a man. And so so I don't care what the time saying. What's popular you got to think about is this morally right? a man y'all don't understand I got so much. I want to stay but I don't want to overwhelm. Amen. And I'm like, okay in order for us to have the life that God wants us to have there's some stuff that we got to deal with there's some things that is not acceptable y'all for us to be men and women of God and doing the stuff that we're doing in Orlando stuff that they are allowing that happened in our lives in a row. It's just not acceptable and we wonder why we're struggling why are family members and because you are corrupting your morals

To be anything. We just use this biblical example of of these men trying to have sex with these other men it could be Thank you. Holy Spirit. Y'all know a man a pastor. Why does it always feel like I'm getting whooped when I come to church you're not getting whooped. God is changing. You got it breaking out some stuff that it has never been right. He never attended to get a text to you. He's revealing that to you and breaking it off and you're like well then what do I do? What did you follow God? If you don't know what to do follow and you call yourself a Believer do the things that God would have you to do not what the world will have you to do. Then we wonder why there's no power in the church because all of us are operating in moral corruption and we want. The blessings when we know the right thing to do and we're not doing the right thing. It's happening and it's acceptable even in churches today you get to do whatever you want to do and call yourself a leader. How about no.

How about those of us who are trying to live right and do right. I've been impacted by your moral corruption.

Genesis chapter 19 verse 12 Meanwhile Angels questions why he said do you have any other relatives here in the city? He said get them out of this place. Your son's in-laws your sons or daughters or anyone else.

God is always tell us how it is. If you care about people this is the most amazing thing if you say you love somebody, why don't you tell them the right thing? Why is it acceptable just because somebody has reached the age of 21 or 18 that you allow them to do things that are sending them straight to hell because they're grown. Is a bunch of grown folks to a grown physically, but mentally there like children. How is it that we can say we love someone and won't tell them the truth?

So angel said some Sandlot, you know, this is wrong. We have to save you we have to snatch you out of this or they were going to do something to us. That was just the prey, right? I need you to get out of this and I need you to get your family out of this and I need to get those people that you say you care about out of it. He told me he said do you have anyone your son-in-law is your daughter's or anyone else? A man? He said we are about to destroy this city completely the outcry against this place is so greatest reach the Lord and he has sent us to destroy it.

But I'll crack. so Graham the God sent angels to destroy that City. What the Bible says about to tell his daughter's fiance's you think we get out of the city of the Lord is about to destroy but you know what because of the way we live, you know, what they said that they said that he was only joking. See when you over here trying to act like them and then when something happened you try to tell him the truth. They going to be like man. I ain't listening to you.

You been you been just as morally corrupt as and now you're going to tell us how to do right or act right or come to church. If I don't accept Christ. I'm not having it. That's the problem we have when we don't live, right? We don't do right when we trying to help people. They look at us like a joke.

And people think this is funny. It's not funny. Yeah, this is people's lives that we talked about. These are sold and we go to church and we hear all of these messages that make us feel good and people going right the hell cuz people tell me yes. It's okay to act in moral. Yes. It's okay tag like this and that and the other

Call you when are we going to get the truth and start telling people the truth. When are we going to start acting like we love God and we want the best for people as opposed to just lip service and said I love you, but I don't because you're 21.

Oh, yeah, you know what I'm talking about? So this is the third picture of backsliding lots. You don't even have a testimony. You going to tell somebody you know, what now? I'm interested.

This is my sis. Thinking Johnson Fraser this make sense.

No, I'm not saying. The living in this world is easy. I'm not seeing it. But I'm saying we have got to look at what the word of God is saying. And we have to accept that as the truth and we going to call ourselves believers. a man We've got to do the right thing a man and someone people talk about you a backslider heck all of us back son. Cuz if we look at the mirror, we all doing some of this and some area of our life. I'm your daddy. I can do whatever they want. It all Paso don't say none. So Pastor that's just how it is. No, it's not like that. If I say I care about somebody then I got a right to tell you the truth. That's what you call yourself part of this family the family of God. That's what I'm talking about. We cannot let relatives just continue to do whatever they want to do and call themselves Christians.

So that was worn by the angels to save his family. A lot more in this family and they thought it was a joke.

when we start teaching our kids

and we stopped teaching each other. And share with each other the right thing to do then you know what we become a joke. I don't care how little the church here's a big the church is. It just becomes a big joke? When does this thing become real? And when is it become our lifestyle not something we do on top of everything else? Yeah, people should be afraid of you when you come because you should be the light and the light shines on the darkness and whatever is in the darkness. It should run if it ain't no God, but when they when they say hey, you got to church and you do this man. I want that something's wrong with that when they're not afraid and to do whatever they want to do in front of you and around you and with you something is wrong with that. Why is it that our morals have to be corrupted? Why do we allow just cuz somebody's feelings? It's her man. No, stop it.

Look at Genesis chapter 19 verse 15. When the morning dawn the Angels urge lied to hurry. He says get your rise take your wife and your two daughters who are here. Let's you be consumed in the punishment the CDC lot of still there. The reason I'm telling you this is to have the life God wants us to have we got to really look at where we're at. How many of us even though we know something is wrong or still in the midst of it? He said that he even told he said tell everybody to get him out, but he still have to tell lot. Wait a minute. Hurry up. You need to get yourself in your wife and everybody out here. He was still there. How many of you still there still trying to hold on to it still trying to find a piece of it that they feel so good to you that you want. He said you got to get out of this 460 nieces and while he lingered Do you still. I know they need to leave a certain thing. I still lingering on. Let me just check to see if it's it's changed. The one that hasn't changed it still.

The Bible says in while he lingered the men took hold of his hand. His wife's hand and the hands of his two daughters the Lord being merciful to him and they brought them out and set them outside the city. Favors us. Just like the praising God favors us got to taking your hands and graduate out of some stuff snatched you up because he favors you he loves you. He wants the best for you to grab black pants brown pants. I get out of this sometimes God has us because the reason why we still here is because God Favored us that's next to self. We don't have enough to grab and get ourselves out of ground us and snatched us out of that situation. That's what the Bible says. The Bible says that he grabbed his hands. His wife has his daughter's head and he snatch them out of it because it was about to be destroyed and sometimes you wonder why I don't feel good anymore. Why because God don't want you to be destroyed Three Springs situations where they don't work for you anymore. That's his spirits away.

For $0.17 so it came to pass when they had brought them outside that he said Escape for your life. Do not look behind, you know State anywhere in the plane. Don't stay in the past Don't Look Back Let It Go. Yes, Pookie and still there.

Sears y'all not use that generically. Amen. But whoever your friend is your cousin your brother your sister and they don't want to come out of it. Make sure you get out of it. A man, he said Don't Look Back. He said in the text Verse 18 then lot said to them please no, man, sometimes we get so caught up in this stuff that we don't want to leave even though God is telling us to get out. He said no my love know what you know, somebody who might want them. What do I do? If I don't have this you trust God you have to believe in God if you call yourself a believer. Bible verses 13 through 18 like said to them, please. No my Lord first 19 indeed. Now you're serving has found favor in your sight and you haven't Christian see what you have shown me by saving my life, but I cannot escape to the mountain let some evil overtake me and excuses. God is pulling you out and you said well what if this don't work out and God is pulling you up. No, it's going to work out that God has got his hand on your life know everything don't work out. Don't be worried. You trying to hold on to something that didn't work in the first place.

I'll never go back there again, but your flesh is still urging it and as soon as you get that one reprieve as soon as you don't feel guilty anymore. Did you turn it right back to it? And you creeping over there you just come now, you got to do the creep over there cuz everybody know you've been snatched out of it. So now you got to do The Creep. Ain't nobody looking at me now, but my flesh just calling me back to what God has delivered me out of. She does not know the guy that's already documented. So when you do it know that God knew you were going to do it and he still loves you.

And I'm telling you when I went when several years ago when God showed me this when I was trying to go back to some stuff that I used to do. He was like if you don't get the light out of your life.

You got to get the lot out of your life. Cuz that's what this is. It's like trying to get you to go back and do the stuff you used to do when God is already delivered you I had to say Lord get this lot out of my life. Get it out of my mind out of my desires out of my knee. I don't need that anymore because it is never been good for me.

He said to him in a text. Verse 20 he said see now this city is near enough to flee to and it's a little one. Let me escape there. Is it not a little one and my soul shall live here. I just

If you don't let me play I have her let me have her, you know, if you don't let me do this. Let me just go over here and do a little of this.

He says in verse 21 and he said to him. See I have favored you concerning this thing also. And that I will not overthrow the city for what you have spoken. Is it hurry up verse 22 Escape therefore. I cannot do anything until you arrived there see some of y'all stopping guy from doing what he needs to do and other situations cuz you won't do what he says you need to do.

See some of you holding up not only your blessing but family member blessings cuz you still trying to stay in the way it used to be.

TC some of us are still struggling and going in circles like in the wilderness cuz we won't submit to God and just move into the place where he called us to move into. And we wonder why things are so hard. Why am I struggling so hard cuz you still trying to hold on to something that God is saying let go whether it's a thing a person a place. How many people holding on to something that got it said let go let it go and trust God a man.

He says hurry up. There's a skate. Therefore. I cannot do anything until you arrive there. Therefore the name of the city was called so are that isn't the fourth picture of backsliding lots desire to linger in the world. It shows a picture of how far Believers as Believers we can backslide. We can justify whatever we want to do. by making excuses for myself

No, wait a minute. If I want to live the Abundant Life that God is calling me to live and he keeps telling me let go of the past and I keep trying to hold on to the Past at some point. He's going to turn me over to my own mind.

You say you want it that bad then you going back? Call it a reprobate mind.

you think you think they can do more for you than God can do then you going back to

you think that situation that person that that thing is better than what God can give you then you going back to it.

But at some point we got to trust God a man. Look at the text Genesis 19 verse 23 lot reach the village just as the sun was rising over the horizon verse 24, then the Lord rain down fire. They called Brimstone in the King James, but it's burning sulfur from the sky on Sodom and Gomorrah verse 25 and says, he really destroyed them along with the other cities and Villages of the plane wiping out all the people. See sometimes y'all y'all got to get this just cuz you messing up impact another folks. Not only was Sodom and Gomorrah destroyed but the cities around them will destroy don't you understand how big this thing is what we do has impact not only here but around the people that impact the people around us

Your loss not only impact in you but it's impacting the people around you. Does that make sense?

And here we go.

She told him not to look back. Go to next bus. But Lot's wife. Looking back as she was following behind. See y'all when they start you trying to move forward and they start lagging behind.

Ain't nothing you can do. Cuz God gave us that direction to move forward. And they'll be people who still trying to lag behind while you trying to move forward in the Bible says she turned and and it wasn't just that she turned and looked back she yearned for she wanted it. She had gotten used to it. And when it says she turned that means she longed for something that she used to have. Weather was power position or Comfort. She used to have it and she turned to look back to see what was being destroyed and the Bible says she turned into a pillar of salt.

So if we're talking about Abundant Life. and having the life that God wants us to have We can't look back.

Because looking back makes us turn into something that God never intended for.

And it's happening all around us. You got cousin stuck and drug use. And alcoholism in abusive relationship cuz they keep going back. And God never intended that got relatives family members friends. They keep going back. They're comfortable. And so the idea is that you're stuck now. You can't get out. And that was his wife. Symbolically, it could be people close to you children spouses other relatives that are looking back.

Does that make sense? And if we're talking about having the Abundant Life we cannot look back. Yes in our flesh. It was comfortable, but God has so much more for us. And so we can't be afraid of what we need to let go and if you see people lagging behind you still got to keep moving forward. We still waiting something many of us spend our lives trying to bring people for who keep looking back. But keep getting stuck in drug is used drug addictions in and whatever it is that they haven't we keep trying to pull them for and we can go anywhere because God can do what he needs to do cuz we're not where we're supposed to be. Does that make sense? And we're wondering. amen until the 5th picture back sliding is Lots warning of judgment. this a lesson for all of us How much time I got? Okay, I Got 5 minutes. Give me 5 minutes. I'll give me 5 minutes. Say Bug Guy. I'll say Bug Guy. So I had to take y'all into that place to realize God is still in control. Say Bug Guy.

I need you to look at this and I'm going to finish this next week and John chapter 1 verses 4 and 5. The Bible says in him was life. I need you to get there. If you put yourself in him, then you have all you need to leave what you use what you thought was good in the back and moving forward because in Christ he is the life. It ain't what you used to do. It ain't around who you used to be but it's in Christ. That's the life in him was life. And the life was the light of men the thing that gets you going to thing that gets you up at in the morning thing that encourage you is the light of God Holy Spirit. That's what gets you going. That's what says, you know what I can make it another day. That's what says I'm going to get up no matter what they say about me and what I'm going to get up. I'm going to keep moving forward no matter how bad it looks you know, sometimes it when I wake up I'm thinking okay guy. I don't preach this church down the five or six people. But I'mma keep moving forward. Hey, man, I'm going to keep moving forward because that light keeps getting me up. That light keeps encouraging me when I read the word. It keeps saying move forward. Don't worry about the past. So here's what I'm saying to leave it right here. Here's what I'm going to say to all of us. Let go of the past and don't look back a man move forward in the light of Jesus Christ. Whatever you need is in Christ Jesus if somebody ain't there anymore don't worry. Jesus is a man and I give God a big hand of praise.
