And all this assembly shall know that the Lord saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give you into our hands. And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came and drew nigh to meet David, that David hasted, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine. And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth.
Preparing for the long haul
And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

Winning one battle doesn’t mean there isn’t another on its way

We have to persevere. It’s not about knowing what the outcome will be or when we’ll get there, it’s about not giving up until you get what you need

He didn’t let go until he got what he needed!
Daniel didn’t plan a 21 day fast, it took 21 days for the angel to get to him
We use Paul’s excuse for ourselves whenever we think we’re supposed to just live with something, but he prayed about it until God told him His grace was sufficient.
