INTRODUCTION:

1. The who of world evangelism.

2. The what of world evangelism.

3. The why of world evangelism.

4. The where of world evangelism.

5. The when of world evangelism.

BODY:

1. THE WHO OF WORLD EVANGELISM.

A. “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations.”

Matthew 28:19–20 NKJV
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

1. Words have meaning.

A. “All nations” means all nations.

1. All should be taught and baptized.
2. We do not have the right to exclude any people.

B. “Not willing that any should perish.”

2 Peter 3:9 NKJV
9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

1. God is not willing that any perish.

A. Does “any” leave anyone out?

B. We do not have the right to wish anyone to perish.

C. “all should come to repentance.

1. The word “all” is all-inclusive.

A. All need repentance.

1. This leaves no one out of repentance.
2. We cannot refuse repentance to anyone.

D. “commands all men…to repent.”

Acts 17:30 NKJV
30 Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent,

1. All are commanded to repent.

A. Who is left out by this command?

E. “always be ready to give a defense to everyone.”

1 Peter 3:15 NKJV
15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;

1. The word “everyone” is all-inclusive.

A. We do not have the right to leave anyone without an answer.

1. ‘That person would never accept the truth, so I just will not tell him.’

F. “answer each one.”

Colossians 4:6 NKJV
6 Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.

1. Who are we to answer?

A. Each one.

G. “for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes.”

Romans 1:16 NKJV
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.

1. The gospel is the power of God to whom?

A. Everyone

H. “for the Jew first and also for the Greek.”

1. Who is left out?

A. Everyone is a Jew or a Greek/Gentile.

I. “And the gospel must first be preached to all the nations.”

Mark 13:10 NKJV
10 And the gospel must first be preached to all the nations.

1. How much more straightforward could this be?

J. We sing a song, “The Gospel is for All.”

1. We sing this, but do we believe it truly?

A. The murderer, the rapist.

B. The Baptist, the Methodist.

C. The Buddhist, Muslim.

D. All people, everywhere; no one is left out.

2. THE WHAT OF WORLD EVANGELISM.

Acts 20:27 NKJV
27 For I have not shunned to declare to you the whole counsel of God.

A. The KJV reads, “all the counsel of God.”

1. The word “all” and the word “whole” mean the same.

B. Jesus, when being tempted by the devil, said in response to him:

Matthew 4:4 NKJV
4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”

1. This is not a new concept; man has always been bound by this concept.

A. This was true in Moses’ time.

Deuteronomy 8:3 NKJV
3 So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord.

B. This was true in Adam and Eve’s time as well.

1. All it took was breaking one law to be kicked out of the Garden.

Then the LORD God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil.

Gen
Genesis 3:22a NKJV
Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”—

22 Then the LORD God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil.

Genesis 4:22 NKJV
And as for Zillah, she also bore Tubal-Cain, an instructor of every craftsman in bronze and iron. And the sister of Tubal-Cain was Naamah.
Genesis 3:22 NKJV
22 Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”—
2. They partook of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and for this reason, they were put out.

And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”—

23 therefore the LORD God sent him out of the garden of Eden

.
Genesis 3:22–23 NKJV
22 Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”—23 therefore the Lord God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken.

C. We must teach the whole, pure, unadulterated Word of God.

1. The Galatians were changing the Gospel.

Galatians 1:6 NKJV
6 I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel,

2. Paul, the writer of Galatians, was an apostle.

Galatians 1:1 NKJV
1 Paul, an apostle (not from men nor through man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father who raised Him from the dead),

A. He told the Galatians that neither an apostle or an angel had the right to change the gospel.

Galatians 1:8 NKJV
8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.
1. No apostle, man, or angel has the right to change the gospel.
2. Today, why do we think we are going to make Christians with a changed gospel?
3. The result of teaching a changed gospel is not Christians but followers of man.
Galatians 1:10 NKJV
For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.
Gal 1.10
Galatians 1:10–12 NKJV
10 For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ. 11 But I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. 12 For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ.

3. We must teach the whole, pure, unadulterated Word, or we shall be cursed.

Revelation 22:18–19 NKJV
18 For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

A. Now, this applies specifically to the book of Revelation, but the concept can also be applied to us.

1. I would call that a curse.

3. THE WHY OF WORLD EVANGELISM.

A. Because God commanded and did not ask.

Matthew 28:18–20 NKJV
18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
Mark 16:15–16 NKJV
15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.

B. Because God loves His enemies.

Romans 5:8 NKJV
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
John 3:16 NKJV
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

C. Because we love God.

John 14:15 NKJV
15 “If you love Me, keep My commandments.
John 15:14 NKJV
14 You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.

D. Because we should love our enemies.

Matthew 5:44 NKJV
44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,

E. Because we should love our neighbors.

Mark 12:31 NKJV
31 And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

1. Parable of the Good Samaritan.

Luke 10:29–37 NKJV
29 But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” 30 Then Jesus answered and said: “A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. 31 Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. 32 Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side. 33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion. 34 So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. 35 On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.’ 36 So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?” 37 And he said, “He who showed mercy on him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”
Luke 10:29-

F. Because Jesus came to serve.

Mark 10:45 NKJV
45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

1. Jesus washes the disciples’ feet.

John 13:1–7 NKJV
1 Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that His hour had come that He should depart from this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end. 2 And supper being ended, the devil having already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray Him, 3 Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was going to God, 4 rose from supper and laid aside His garments, took a towel and girded Himself. 5 After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded. 6 Then He came to Simon Peter. And Peter said to Him, “Lord, are You washing my feet?” 7 Jesus answered and said to him, “What I am doing you do not understand now, but you will know after this.”

G. Because we should be like God.

1 Corinthians 11:1 NKJV
1 Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.
Ephesians 5:1 NKJV
1 Therefore be imitators of God as dear children.

H. Because they are lost and doomed without the message.

Romans 10:14 NKJV
14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?
Romans 10:17 NKJV
17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
2 Thessalonians 1:8 NKJV
8 in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I. Because we should want to preach and teach the Gospel.

1 Corinthians 9:16–19 NKJV
16 For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to boast of, for necessity is laid upon me; yes, woe is me if I do not preach the gospel! 17 For if I do this willingly, I have a reward; but if against my will, I have been entrusted with a stewardship. 18 What is my reward then? That when I preach the gospel, I may present the gospel of Christ without charge, that I may not abuse my authority in the gospel. 19 For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win the more;

J. Because we should see the urgency of the Gospel.

1 Corinthians 6:2 NKJV
2 Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world will be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters?
2 Corinthians 6:2 NKJV
2 For He says: In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

K. This is not an exhaustive list but should show there are many reasons to be evangelistic, not just a few.

4. THE WHERE OF WORLD EVANGELISM.

A. All nations need the Gospel.

Mark

1. This includes the town where you live (Duke, Gould, Hollis, Altus, Mangum, Vinson, etc.).

Mark 16:15–16 NKJV
15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.

B. The Gospel needs to be preached to every creature.

1. This includes your neighbors.

Acts 17:11 NKJV
11 These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.

C. Everyone needs repentance; this includes every nation and every city.

D. In order to accomplish this, Paul became all things to all men.

1 Corinthians 9:19–22 NKJV
19 For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win the more; 20 and to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might win Jews; to those who are under the law, as under the law, that I might win those who are under the law; 21 to those who are without law, as without law (not being without law toward God, but under law toward Christ), that I might win those who are without law; 22 to the weak I became as weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.
1 cor

1. He was a servant to all.

A. Who should we serve, or where should the Gospel go?

2. To the Jew, he became like a Jew.

3. To those without law, he became like those without law.

4. To the weak, he became weak.

E. Why did Paul do this?

1. “I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.”

F. Where did Paul go to preach to all men?

1. Everywhere he could, and no one was left out.

G. The disciples of the Lord preached everywhere.

Mark 16:20 NKJV
20 And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.

1. If these few men could preach everywhere, then so can we.

5. THE WHEN OF WORLD EVANGELISM.

A. The when is now.

2 Corinthians 6:2 NKJV
2 For He says: In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.
2

B. Why be so urgent?

1. Because the lost could die at any moment.

A. Life is like a vapor.

James 4:14 NKJV
14 whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.

2. Because the Lord could return at any moment.

A. No one knows when the Lord will return.

Matthew 24:36 NKJV
36 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.

3. Because the harvest is plentiful, and the laborers are few.

Luke 10:2 NKJV
2 Then He said to them, “The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.

4. Because the Lord does not want any to be lost.

2 Peter 3:9 NKJV
9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

C. The when is as we go in the world.

Matthew 10:7 NKJV
7 And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’

CONCLUSION:

1. The who—everyone.

2. The what—the whole counsel of God.

3. The why—because they are lost.

4. The where—everywhere.

5. The when—now!
