Let me first and foremost say to all of you, I thank you and am deeply humbled by your selection of me to serve in this capacity.
And it is in this spirit of humility I ask that we all go to prayer this morning.
Would you pray with me?
Eternal Father,
This past week we have witnessed another act of pure evil.
While many struggle with trying to understand how such evil can exist, deep in our hearts we already know the answer.
This world has rejected you and your teachings, opting instead to follow what seems right in their own eyes.
Your Word is no longer welcome in our schools, in our government, or in our businesses.
Sadly, the only institution Father where Bibles are freely available and read are in our prisons.
We lift up this nation Lord, that in the midst of this tragedy, Your glory will shine forth and that the stories of heroism and sacrifice will become a beacon of light and hope to a lost world.
Father we raise up the families of those affected by the shootings in Las Vegas, that they may feel your presence in such a time of despair.
We pray for our leaders at all levels of government that they would humble themselves and first seek your counsel before acting on theirs.
Forgive us Father when we, as the body of Christ, act like the world around us. forgive us when we place the idols of our lives in front of you.
As David pleaded so long ago, create in us a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within us.
We thank you for this church body Father, for its leadership, its people, and its desire to serve you.
For it is only in this capacity that we can honor you and serve you.
We pray for our leaders at all levels of government that they would first seek your counsel before acting on theirs.
We lift up all of our first responders, our law enforcement, our military, who selfishly go out every day in service with no guarantee of coming back home safely in the evening.
We pray for our leaders at all levels of government that they would first seek your counsel before acting on theirs.
We thank you for this church body Father, for its leadership, its people, and its desire to serve you.
May we grow re-committed to our call here at Reedy Fork and help us to remember that the Great Commission was not just about sharing the Good News, but also about teaching people your ways.
Let us never forget this and as we prepare for the necessary changes in both building and people, may we always seek your Will and not our own.
For in this Father, we will know humility.
I thank you for our Pastor, Lord, for without his relentless pursuit of this lost sheep, I would not be standing here this morning.
Anoint his message and may you be glorified in this service today.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
