30.25-36
25
25 As soon as Rachel had borne Joseph, Jacob said to Laban, “Send me away, that I may go to my own home and country.
14 years are up
7 for Rachel / Leah
7 for Rachel again
Same attitude as Abrahams servant
attitude we should all have of this world
this world is not home so why stay?
26
26 Give me my wives and my children for whom I have served you, that I may go, for you know the service that I have given you.”
is there anything that you would not be willing to part with for Jesus?
Give me what you owe me!
Laban deceived him yet he stays
Jacob worked unto the LORD not unto Laban
do we serve God with this type of integrity?
where could we improve in this service?
27
27 But Laban said to him, “If I have found favor in your sight, I have learned by divination that the Lord has blessed me because of you.
What a way to earn favor with someone… laughable!
divination - nihash - seek answer through omen, the dark and arcane arts.
Laban’s blessings are because of Jacob.
Churlish selfish men know how to give good words when it is to serve their own ends.

Note, [1.] Good men are blessings to the places where they live, even where they live meanly and obscurely, as Jacob in the field, and Joseph in the prison, ch.
39:23.
[2.] God often blesses bad men with outward mercies for the sake of their godly relations, though it is seldom that they have either the wit to see it or the grace to own it, as Laban did here.
Worldly men, who choose their portion in this life, are often blessed with an abundance of this world’s goods.

28 Name your wages, and I will give it.”
Sounds familiar = 29.15 to be exact, how did that work out.
fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me!

29 Jacob said to him, “You yourself know how I have served you, and how your livestock has fared with me.
30 For you had little before I came, and it has increased abundantly, and the Lord has blessed you wherever I turned.
But now when shall I provide for my own household also?”
No divination necessary
plain as the nose on Laban’s face
God’s fulfilling promises to Jacob - Abraham - Us
in you and your offspring shall all the families of the earth be blessed.
Little // to // Abundance
Jacob or God?
Those that trust in God, in his providence and promise, though they have great families and small incomes, can cheerfully hope that he who sends mouths will send meat.
He who feeds the brood of the ravens will not starve the seed of the righteous.

Are you at a place in your life where you are wondering when God will give you more, like Jacob is here?
Those who, while their beginning is small, are humble and honest, contented and industrious, are in a likely way to see their latter end greatly increasing.
He that is faithful in a little shall be entrusted with more.
He that is faithful in that which is another man’s shall be entrusted with something of his own.
Jacob, who had been a just servant, became a rich master.

31-32
31 He said, “What shall I give you?”
Jacob said, “You shall not give me anything.
If you will do this for me, I will again pasture your flock and keep it: 32 let me pass through all your flock today, removing from it every speckled and spotted sheep and every black lamb, and the spotted and speckled among the goats, and they shall be my wages.
Let us not be indebted to the wicked!
Jacob asks for the speckled and the spotted for his wages
this must have been the abnormality for Laban to agree
God provides the mouths, so God provides the meat!
the patriarchal blessings going forward to Jacob as well
33-34
33 So my honesty will answer for me later, when you come to look into my wages with you.
Every one that is not speckled and spotted among the goats and black among the lambs, if found with me, shall be counted stolen.”
34 Laban said, “Good!
Let it be as you have said.”
Jacobs integrity would speak for its self.
