Last week we began to look a bit at what had happened when truth began to dawn on Luther. Like a bright light into his dark world, the relief he so desperately sought came to him through the illumination of Scripture. Into his suffering came hope. As he became more and more aware of the fact that God wanted him, just as he was, the weight of his guilt, the pain of the knowledge that he could never do enough, began to fall away.
