Two weeks ago, our nation was stunned.
Massive shooting in Las Vegas.
What should we make of it?
No one knew it was coming!
Suspect it might-guards, tickets, badges.
No one knows for sure when Judgment Day will come or your personal judgment day in death.
It affected people.
Lives changed.
Lives will change on Judgment Day to immeasurable happiness or immeasurable suffering.
It was serious because of the coverage.
Today’s message is serious also.
See it in verse 31-”Why will you die, people of Israel?” and verse 32-”For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone.
Repent and live!”
Recognize guilt (1-4,25f,20-32)
Text opens with a proverb, “The parents eat sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set edge.”
Meaning-The parents were the ones who sinned and the children continue to suffer for their sins.
All are the same in God’s eyes.
All sin.
There will be consequences for their sins.
It is not a matter of someone getting away with anything or someone suffering unjustly.
If you sin, you will die!
Remember what God said earlier, “I take no pleasure....”
This is what God he would do.
A righteous person will die if they sin.
God said, I will judge each of you according to your own ways.
The first thing we need to do is accept how sinful we are and what our sins mean-death.
We have a way of minimizing our sins.
Rely on his grace (27f,30-32)
The opposite.
The wicked person who repents will live.
We need to recognize that forgiveness of sins and real life come from God alone.
Now is the time of God’s favor; Now is the day of salvation.
