All Scripture is Important

The New Revised Standard Version Paul’s Charge to Timothy

16 All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work.

The New Revised Standard Version Paul’s Charge to Timothy

All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work.

This includes the Old Testament. The Bishop knows that I love the OT

Jesus’ View on the OT

What did Jesus have to say about what we call the Old Testament? It turns out - quite a lot.
Let’s start in when Jesus meets two followers on the road to Emmaus.

25 Then he said to them, “Oh, how foolish you are, and how slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have declared! 26 Was it not necessary that the Messiah should suffer these things and then enter into his glory?” 27 Then beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he interpreted to them the things about himself in all the scriptures.

When he reaches the village, starting in verse 44 we read:
The New Revised Standard Version Jesus Appears to His Disciples

44 Then he said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you—that everything written about me in the law of Moses, the prophets, and the psalms must be fulfilled.” 45 Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures

When Jesus says “the law of Moses, the prophets, and the psalms” - that is short hand for what we call the Old Testament. He is saying that he is throughout all of the scriptures.
