The Depravity of Men Before an Unchangeable God
The Depravity of Men Before an Unchangeable God
Illus: Hannah and Andrew scared of the Chick-fil-a Cow
There is a sense of fear of the unknown of the things of the earth.
A Mystery of Iniquity—humanity is fruitful, and multiplying but instead of the curse being reversed we see sin advance.
Now the earth is horrific. It is a nightmare.
Daughters are being born. And we know that the worse part of sin spreading is that murder and death are spreading.
Why is this important? It threatens the promise of God.
Who are the Sons of God?
The line of Seth mixing with the line of Cain
***2. Sons of God are angelic beings.
The Psalms, Job and Jude, etc…anytime the phrase “sons of God are used it refers to angelic beings.
; ; ,
It was about these that Enoch, in the seventh generation from Adam, prophesied: “Look! The Lord comes with tens of thousands of his holy ones to execute judgment on all and to convict all the ungodly concerning all the ungodly acts that they have done in an ungodly way, and concerning all the harsh things ungodly sinners have said against him.”
and the angels who did not keep their own position but abandoned their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains in deep darkness for the judgment on the great day.
For if God didn’t spare the angels who sinned but cast them into hell and delivered them in chains of utter darkness to be kept for judgment;
in which he also went and made proclamation to the spirits in prison who in the past were disobedient, when God patiently waited in the days of Noah while the ark was being prepared. In it a few—that is, eight people—were saved through water.
These beings are FALLEN. And they take women as wives. The transgress against the boundaries that God has made.
Mathews, Kenneth; Mathews, K. A.. The New American Commentary Volume 1 - (p. 327). B&H Publishing. Kindle Edition.
These beings are FALLEN. And they take women as wives. The transgress against the boundaries that God has made.
The main point is a mixture of light with darkness.
Demons....seems unreasonable in the west. But outside of the west it is a very real reality.
Illus: Philippines.
At the root of human sin, is lust and the desire to have something that God says you shall not have. (Eve—fruit)
The Scripture makes it clear that light and darkness are not to mix.
Don’t become partners with those who do not believe. For what partnership is there between righteousness and lawlessness? Or what fellowship does light have with darkness? What agreement does Christ have with Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? And what agreement does the temple of God have with idols? For we are the temple of the living God, as God said: I will dwell and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people. Therefore, come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord; do not touch any unclean thing, and I will welcome you.
Are relationships with unbelievers are to be close, but a marital or romantic relationship with an unbeliever is forbidden.
Parent—your primary desire for your children is that they marry believers. It should be the number one characteristic you desire…far above the economic, or racial background.
These demonic beings lust after the daughters of men. They make them objects of pleasure. This is demonic and is born from the sin of lust.
As a result...
***This grieves the Lord*** who limits our days to 120.
Mankind is made in the image of God. Instead, they are reflecting the image of the snake.
120 years reflects already the promise that A/E will die. This reflects God’s goodness and mercy in limiting our evil and wickedness by limiting our days.
Some of you think that life is short. Even those who live to an old age. But each breath is a gift of grace and mercy from the Lord. God is merciful. God’s spirit will not dwell with men forever, the need the Holy Spirit within.
If you are living and breathing it is because of mercy and it is for you to repent of your sin and confess Jesus as Lord.
For he says: At an acceptable time I listened to you, and in the day of salvation I helped you. See, now is the acceptable time; now is the day of salvation!
1. God regrets because he is unchangeable.
1. God regrets because he is unchangeable.
(The Nephilim verse is like a parenthesis. Before and after the fall there are people who are very tall/big.)
The result of the union of angelic beings is human offspring. They may have been famous and great but they are human that is the point.
2. God's regret means action must be taken.
2. God's regret means action must be taken.
2. God's regret means action must be taken.
God regrets because he is unchangeable.
2. God's regret means action must be taken.
3. God's motives are always good and just.
3. God's motives are always good and just.
There is also a mystery of Grace.
Everything has been cursed by sin and God is going to blot it all out.
HOWEVER/BUT Noah found favor in God’s eye.
Our sinfulness and lostness is so clear…BUT so is the GOSPEL.
We are alive today because Noah found favor.
This is what it means to be saved through a faithful remnant.
When all of the world is in rebellion the world is saved through one man.
When all of the world is in captivity to sin and rebellion, there is one man, Jesus Christ who finds favor in God’s eyes.
“This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased...”
As Christians we take each and every day, every breath as a reminder of the mercy and grace of Jesus Christ that leads us to worship.
We have salvation because of Jesus Christ alone.
Love Lifted Me, When nothing else could help…love lifted me.
Not only does Christ save us. This is not just a get out of hell free card. He welcomes us and He cleanses us and adopt us and invites us to dine with Him at his table.
The Lord’s Supper.
For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: On the night when he was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, and said, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes. So then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sin against the body and blood of the Lord. Let a person examine himself; in this way let him eat the bread and drink from the cup. For whoever eats and drinks without recognizing the body, eats and drinks judgment on himself. This is why many are sick and ill among you, and many have fallen asleep. If we were properly judging ourselves, we would not be judged, but when we are judged by the Lord, we are disciplined, so that we may not be condemned with the world. Therefore, my brothers and sisters, when you come together to eat, welcome one another.
