Introduction
Introduction
Second only to the need to be more loving, believers need wisdom. Wisdom isn’t simply knowledge, it’s much deeper. The world’s image of a wise man is someone places himself high above others and grants an audience in exchange for wealth or great effort. Picture a high priced consultant or sage living high on a remote mountain. Biblical wisdom, Godly wisdom is quite different. Godly wisdom pursues far more than it is pursued.
Key One: Choose it!
You will never achieve wisdom by accident. You will never walk in wisdom accidently.
7 The beginning of wisdom: Get wisdom! With all that is in your possession, gain insight.
Wisdom connects all things to your purpose, and this is very important. Dr. Miles Munroe said in his book “The Pursuit of Purpose”:
If you don’t know the purpose of a thing, you will abnormally use (ab-use) it, you will abuse it.
Purpose is the great sanctifier; when you know the purpose for wealth, you have a prosperous soul.
Wisdom will bring wealth, but wealth will not bring wisdom.
If you want to prosper, don’t ask God for prosperity, ask Him for wisdom.
10 Receive my instruction in preference to [striving for] silver, and knowledge rather than choice gold,
11 For skillful and godly Wisdom is better than rubies or pearls, and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.
7 The beginning of wisdom: Get wisdom! With all that is in your possession, gain insight.
Everything we choose is at the expense of something else.
You’ll never soar with the eagles is you walk with the turkeys. Often times, the people of your history, are not the people of your destiny. You must determine to follow Jesus.
Key One: Choose it!
You will never achieve wisdom by accident. You will never walk in wisdom accidently.
10 The reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord is the beginning (the chief and choice part) of Wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight and understanding.
Jesus must be preeminent in your life, in your finances, in your decisions, in everything.
33 But seek first his kingdom and righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
7 The beginning of wisdom: Get wisdom! With all that is in your possession, gain insight.
'Prosperity knits a man to the world. He feels that he is finding his place in it, while really it is finding its place in him.' C.S. Lewis
“Godly wisdom isn’t about making deep and wise sounding sayings, but rather in seeking to practice even the simplest truth that God has revealed to you.”
Key Two: Be Teachable
8 Prize Wisdom highly and exalt her, and she will exalt and promote you; she will bring you to honor when you embrace her.
If you want promotion, don’t pray for promotion, pray for wisdom.
“God always hides His kingdom behind His Character...”
1 A WISE son heeds [and is the fruit of] his father’s instruction and correction, but a scoffer listens not to rebuke.
12 Haughtiness comes before disaster, but humility before honor.
17 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceful, gentle, obedient, full of mercy and good fruits, nonjudgmental, without hypocrisy,
In the world you must have all the right answers, but in the Kingdom, sometimes you must have all the right questions. It’s often not how you give, but how you receive that demonstrates your wisdom. Your earthly relationships clearly demonstrate your wisdom.
2 When swelling and pride come, then emptiness and shame come also, but with the humble (those who are lowly, who have been pruned or chiseled by trial, and renounce self) are skillful and godly Wisdom and soundness.
10 Pride leads to conflict; those who take advice are wise.
Key Three:Consistent Time with Word (Made Flesh & Written)
If you want wisdom, don’t seek wisdom, seek the Father.
2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
99 I have more insight than all my teachers, for your testimonies are my meditation.
100 I understand more than the elders, for I keep your precepts.
101 I have restrained my feet from every evil way, so that I may heed your word.
6 For the Lord grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
18 Stop deceiving yourselves. If you think you are wise by this world’s standards, you need to become a fool to be truly wise.
19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God. As the Scriptures say, “He traps the wise in the snare of their own cleverness.”
20 And again, “The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise; he knows they are worthless.”
