Romans 13:7 ESV
Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed.
Exhortation. Translation of a Greek word literally meaning “a calling of someone alongside to help.”
Its primary meaning in the NT is the urging of someone to do something, more specifically some ethical course of action.
In some contexts the same Greek word may also include the idea of comforting and consoling.
A passage that most clearly illustrates “exhortation” in the sense of inciting or spurring people on to action is .
Paul was writing to believers at the very heart of the Roman Empire.
As yet, the great persecutions had not started, but were on the way.
Christianity was still considered a Jewish sect, and the Jewish religion was approved by Rome.
But the day would come when it would be very difficult, if not impossible, for a Christian to be loyal to the emperor. He could not drop incense on the altar and affirm, “Caesar is god!”
So in
Paul gives us three basic reasons why we should show honor.
I’m not going to unpack all of these verses
I’m simply using this chapter to ungired or to support this biblical principle called honor
= Paul says that we ought to show honor for waft sake.
Romans 13:1 ESV
Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.
Romans 13:1 NLT
Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God.
13:1 be subject. This Gr. word was used of a soldier’s absolute obedience to his superior officer.
Scripture makes one exception to this command: when obedience to civil authority would require disobedience to God’s Word
So God has set this in place that we should respect, honor and obey governing authorities.
Every position of civil authority without regard to competency, morality, reasonableness, or any other caveat
Since God alone is the sovereign ruler of the universe so when I buck the system, I’m really bucking God.
Oh sure our government is corrupt and has its issues.
But there is a respectable way, a non violent approach that we should have as believers.
If we save more souls, teach them correctly
we can have Saved and Kingdom mined
City Councilmen & Women
Saved and Kingdom minded State representation
Saved & Kingdom minded Congressmen and Congresswomen
Saved & Kingdom minded
Presidents

For Conscience Sake
Government, Politics and National Identity — The political exertion of authority, as well as the concept of national identity.
Romans 13:5 ESV
Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God’s wrath but also for the sake of conscience.
Submission — An attitude of yielding or surrender.
Fear, God: Sovereignty, God: Wrath, Honor and Shame, Judgment, Justice, Killing, Leadership, Money, Obedience and Disobedience, Power, Responsibility, Revenge
Because its the Right thing to Do.

Paul Argues that we should show Honor for loves sake
Romans 13:7 ESV
Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed.
Romans 13:8 ESV
Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.
Romans 13:8 ESV
Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.
Romans 13:1 ESV
Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.
Romans 13:7 The Message
Fulfill your obligations as a citizen. Pay your taxes, pay your bills, respect your leaders.
Rom 13:
Romans 13:8 The Message
Don’t run up debts, except for the huge debt of love you owe each other. When you love others, you complete what the law has been after all along.
So God has instituted
4 authorities on earth:
If we are all on the same level their is no honor
Scripture makes one exception to this command: when obedience to civil authority would require disobedience to God’s Word
He has instituted 4 authorities on earth:
Since God alone is the sovereign ruler of the universe

Since He alone is the sovereign ruler of the universe (Pss. 62:11; 103:19; 1 Tim. 6:15), He has instituted 4 authorities on earth: 1) the government over all citizens; 2) the church over all believers; 3) the parents over all children; and 4) the masters over all employees.

He has instituted 4 authorities on earth:
That Should be Honored
1) the parents over all children
2) the church over all believers;
3) the government over all citizens;
4) employers over all employees.
Definition of Honor

Principle

Principle Deff
Paul gives us three basic reasons why we should show honor.
Romans 12:10 ESV
Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.
I’m not going to unpack all of these verses
I’m simply using this chapter to ungired or to support this biblical principle called honor
1 Peter 2:17 ESV
Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor.

For Conscience Sake
Parents
The First group of people that a child learns to Honor is their parents
The First place I should learn Honor is in the home
Romans 13:5 ESV
Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God’s wrath but also for the sake of conscience.
As parents it is our responsibly to teach our children honor
I’m only crippling him, I'm only crippling her.
I’m not your friend, I’m your father
I’m not your friend I’m your mother
Ephesians 6:1 ESV
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
Ephesians 6:2 ESV
“Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise),
.
If we will not honor our natural parents there will be a lack of honor in the market place or church.
If we will not honor our natural parents there will be a lack of honor in the market place or church.
Anyone who comes up against them in life they will buck because they were never taught at home.
The Honor should flow from the home.
If You had a father that wasn't honorable you will have a problem with honor in the market place as well as in the ministry
If Your Husband isn't honorable
If your wife isn't Honorable
Civilities
Synonyms MANNER 5, amenities, decorum(s), etiquette, mores, proprieties
becoming, befitting, Christian, , conforming, correct, decent, done, nice
As parents Its really hard to teach my children how to honor when we don't honor one another.
Ephesians 5:22 ESV
Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord.
Ephesians 5:23 ESV
For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior.
Ephesians 5:24 ESV
Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands.
Its a voluntary submission
Ephesians 5:25 ESV
Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her,
It’s A Sacrificial love
1 Peter 3:7 ESV
Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.
1 Peter 4:7 KJV 1900
But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
Ephesians 6:1 ESV
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.

Position

Acts 23:1 ESV
And looking intently at the council, Paul said, “Brothers, I have lived my life before God in all good conscience up to this day.”

Acts 23:4 ESV
Those who stood by said, “Would you revile God’s high priest?”

Acts 23:5 ESV
And Paul said, “I did not know, brothers, that he was the high priest, for it is written, ‘You shall not speak evil of a ruler of your people.’ ”
Every Position Carries Honor
Paul Argues that we should show Honor for loves sake
Romans 13:8 ESV
Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.
I must understand that there are people that are in a higher position than you.
If there is no higher power.
Higher rank
There can be no honor.
Authority is given or delegated.
Parking Attendants
Sanctuary Servants
Administration
Pastoral Assistants
Every Ministry Leader
Now the person in that position must be responsible with that position and with the
Authority that has been given to them, they cant Abuse their Authority just like I cant abuse mine
1 Chronicles 12:38 ESV
All these, men of war, arrayed in battle order, came to Hebron with a whole heart to make David king over all Israel. Likewise, all the rest of Israel were of a single mind to make David king.
I must understand rank
They were all soldiers, they were all warriors
But they all came together to say will will make David our leader.
So When I join a local Church, when I connect to a local church.
In a real sense I’m joining in with Davids men.
Who said, I’m a man of war too, but that's the King
I’m A mighty warrior but that's the King
I’m Saved too but that's the Pastor
I’m annoted too but that's the Pastor
I love God to but that's the Pastor
I hear God too but that's the Pastor

1 Peter 1:
1 Peter 2:13 ESV
Be subject for the Lord’s sake to every human institution, whether it be to the emperor as supreme,
You cant receive the equipping if you think were on the same level.
That word in the original language
Equip: the bringing of someone or something to completion, perfect (mature) adequate in every respect. Fit for purpose.
You cant receive the equipping if you think you know more than me.
And you may but You don't know more than me as it relates to Truth in Love Ministries .
The pulse of this Ministry, the heart beat of this Ministry comes from my heart beat, the pulse of this ministry comes from my pulse.
I birthed this ministry .
This my baby not possessively but protectively.
You cant be equipped if you are always criticizing
