Get Out Synopsis
Now that Chris (Daniel Kaluuya) and his girlfriend, Rose (Allison Williams), have reached the meet-the-parents milestone of dating, she invites him for a weekend getaway upstate with Missy and Dean. At first, Chris reads the family's overly accommodating behavior as nervous attempts to deal with their daughter's interracial relationship, but as the weekend progresses, a series of increasingly disturbing discoveries lead him to a truth that he never could have imagined.
In this era we have access to a plethora of sites and books offering insight on history. We use that history and compare it to what is going on now and we tell people to stay “woke”. In a time when people claim to be more woke than ever it is important that we focus on what really matters. We don’t look at the roof as the cause of a sinking house, we must examine the foundation!

Some Folks Are Still Asleep
6 However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing.
7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory,
8 which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
9 But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
4 For since the beginning of the world Men have not heard nor perceived by the ear, Nor has the eye seen any God besides You, Who acts for the one who waits for Him.

17 “For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; And the former shall not be remembered or come to mind.

10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.
to examine (analyze) v. — to consider in detail and subject to an analysis in order to discover essential features or meaning.
profundity (intellectual depth) ⇔ depths n. — knowledge that is recondite and abstruse (difficult to comprehend) and profound.
Paul tells them that the Spirit examines the DEEP things of God!
11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.
11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.
Man knows man, so would God (a Spirit) not know the things of God?
12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.
1 cor 2 12
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
The same spirit that hovered over the waters of the unformed earth is the same Spirit that the Corinthian Christians received through baptism!
13 These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
Paul teaches them to speak the language in which the Holy Spirit teaches. Man teaches through science and philosophy but the Holy Spirit compares spiritual things to spiritual things!
14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
But every person cannot just get these things. They must first take as a prerequisite, Baptism 101!
15 But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one.
16 For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
1 cor 2
Paul tells them that when you are spiritual you are able to judge/discern ALL things.
to come to know or recognize mentally 〈unable to discern his motives〉 verb intransitive: to see or understand the difference
The NIV does a better job at translating for our understanding.
15 The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments,
16 for, “Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
Wake Up!
Wake Up!
There are complaints that we stick to the elementary things of Gods word in Bible study or through sermons.
There are complaints that there is not any relevance in what is proclaimed through the pulpit.
But the same people who make these complaints are the ones who lack maturity. You have something that searches the deep things of God! Use it!
Don’t you want something that can examine the DEEP things of God?
Christians, do not waste what you currently have!
We came to the body knowing how man operates because we were of the flesh. Some of us have doctorates in the flesh, yet we still study!
We cry out to the news media and government about a corrupt system.
We read self help books to validate our lives
We choose alcohol and drugs to calm our spirits
We cuss out and physically abuse our spouses
We relentlessly beat our children with no prior standards
We complain about a lack of leadership and raise little boys with no sense of responsibility, work ethic, or spirituality
We complain about struggling in the real world yet do not pick up our word!
We have the Spirit of God! That was given to us for free! Jesus paid the cost!
How do we put it to practice?
13 These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
1 cor 2
At some point we have to start connecting the dots. That does not happen if we do not see the dots or even pick up a utensil to do so! Study!
Look at verse 15 and 16
When we study we will have the ability to understand anything that this life and beyond can throw at us because we have the mind of Christ!
