When we are doing the right and necessary things, we can get caught off guard by attacks. While this shouldn’t surprise us, it does. Sometimes, more than surprise us, this can leave us feeling cast off by God, forsaken, abandoned. Psalm 60 is the result of David’s experience of being cast off by God.
