PEFeb89 YOU NEED SONLIGHT Scientists have discovered that some people are affected adversely when deprived of light. This is called "seasonal affective disorder", better known as SAD. When susceptible people are deprived of light, their bodies secrete excess melatonin. This is a hormone that is tied to depression. As the daylight hours begin to dwindle, people become more affected. Special lights have been developed that produce enough LUX that will overcome the unusual phenomenon that some call the "cold weather blues". The "blues" are characterized as depression, a craving for carbohydrates, fatigue, and a general "blah" feeling. This identical phenomenon is seen in religious behavior as well! I have found when a person is deprived of regular time with God, they experience SAD, spiritual affective disorder. The spirit begins to produce a substance (attitude) that is characterized by depression, apathy, listlessness, and a general feeling of lukewarmness. This results in a heightened susceptibility to spiritual disease. A general description is found in God's Handbook for Health on page 1080. You may locate it in your reference book under the heading of Galatians 5. Some of the symptoms of spiritual affective disorder, SAD, are discord, jealousy, fits of rage, envy. A more complete reading on this disorder, and especially the cure for SAD, is found in your reference book, God's Handbook for Health (oh, by the way, it's most often called the Bible!) in Ephesians 5. SAD symptoms are: obscenity, coarse joking, greed, etc. The cure is exciting! Listen to the Author. Ephesians 5:8 for you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of Light. :11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. :13 But everything exposed by the light becomes visible. :14 for it is light that makes everything visible. THERE'S THE CURE ! THE CURE FOR SAD ! Regular doses of SONlight. Let Christshine on you! How do you accomplish this, you ask? Look also in Ephesians 5:18-21! But most of all, be where believers are. This is commonly called Fellowship. That is where the SON is! "Where two or more are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of you." That's why King David said, "I was glad when they said let us go to the house of the Lord." He knew the cure for SAD! Now you do as well.
