I really like that the last song the praise team saying about shackles cuz you know, here's a deal there's stuff that's keeping us in Chains a man little stuff, you know, it may not even be things that you you easily recognize this little stuff that keeps us bound down from really giving God praise the keeps us from really opening up and giving God our best because we have these little bit of shackles these little bitty things. That's the tires down whether it's worried about what somebody think or how we feeling or are, you know, you just name it what it could be something that's preventing you or me from giving God our also. I like the fact that that's a Take the shackles off so that we can give God all the praise. Amen. So let's give God some praise. Amen. I want I want to do a couple things and then I understand we don't have kids world today. No kids world today. Okay. So the young people stay in and they just have to deal with the pastor amen. So this is going to be the first time past is going to take you through the entire chapter of Romans chapter number 8, I usually do book, you know, strategically go through the books by me to go through this chapter. And so we go look at Romans and some more scriptures there but are foundational texts going to come from Romans chapter 8 verse 32 and I look at what the Bible says. He says since he did not spare even his own son. But gave him up for us all won't he also give us everything else won't he do it won't he do it if he gave up his son want to give us everything else a mess. So what's up join with me as we sharing our confession of face repeat this after me. I am not move. By what I see. or by what I feel I am moved by what I believe. I believe the word of God the victory is mine. I have it now. I can see it through the eyes in my face. In Jesus name I look to your neighbor and tell him won't he do it won't he do it and I'll give you got one more hand appraiser. You may be seated in the presence of the Lord. Amen, so last week we talked a little bit about my belief. We talked about my belief and we looked at John chapter 20 verse 29 where Jesus said to Thomas because you have seen me you have believed blessed are those who have not seen me and yet believe it or not and I want you to hold that because God is calling us to believe in him, even though we have not seen him physically a man. They want me to do it. Not an interesting thing about Romans Romans in chapter 8 is going to take us through a whole lot of emotional things that make us aware of the things that God is already done for us. And and when you see something that resonates with you, I want you to grab it and say that's for me. Okay, when you see something that you know in in this chapter, I want you to grab it and say that's for me. Now when we going to do we going to break this up in three sections we going to do with the first section no condemnation, cuz you know folks always trying to put you condemn you for what you did and didn't do and should have done and I want to show you the guy that is not brought any condemnation because he already paid the price for a lot of things. Are you with me? Alright, so here we go. Say no condemnation. No condemnation means judgement, you know, you don't have folks want to just keep judging you for stuff that you've done or or should have done or couldn't do and you promise things and you know, people want to keep that judgemental mindset as especially as it relates to Christians a man. I'll look into you fake you phony, you know, you you are a hypocrite, you know, everybody wants to judge Bible say there is no condemnation when we serve Christ now in verse number one Romans chapter 8 verse 1 the Bible clearly states. So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus or lopsided by what you didn't do or try to judge you for who you are and say hey, here's what Romans chapter 8 verse 1 say no condemnation. It's also you should grab that if somebody if you still feeling guilty because you didn't do something or you disappointed someone or you just go to Romans chapter 8 and say wait a minute. And God is Not condemning me. Then I'm not going to worry about what anybody else is doing. Does that make sense? So so so some of us are walking around with weights on our shoulders about stuff that happened in the past, you know, you got to let that go because of God is Not condemning you about it. Amen. Then you can't let man or woman condemned you about it. You have got to know what the word of God says in the Bible says there is now no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. So you have to understand you're not doing or damned there that the that the song like the the the the the prettiest thing said the shackles are off. There's no penalty. He's already paid the price no condemnation for whatever happened in the past or what you might do in the future. Jesus is already paid the price. Do I have any Witnesses here? Play won't he do it. He freed me already. He's letting you know stuff that I was holding on in the past about what I did, you know, or didn't do God says wait a minute. You keeping yourself in the shower. I'm not condemning you so somebody here needs to let go of what people have been trying to do to keep you in shackles, cuz the Bible clearly says there's no condemnation.

I'm trying to keep myself together here cuz I got to tell you when I read this and I realize what God has done. He's not judging me. I'm you know, what? I say me I mean collected me I'm using myself as an example. How many of you guys know that there are people right now who are praying against you being able to have joy in Christ Jesus? They still want you to be the old person they still want you to do the old stuff. They still want you to act in your way. But you got to remind them. You've been set free. And and when and when you mess up like we all were messed up and we'll miss the mark. You can't spend that time judging yourself. Are you with me? And let me tell you something. Don't let somebody else take your joy Away by you allow them to judge you. Say no condemnation. Now look at Romans look at verse 2, it says and because you belong to him.

see I was a foster parent for a while. And the interesting thing when they would bring the kids into the house there was a sense of not belonging.

Let me tell you, you know to get snatched out of your home. What you know to be home, whatever it's like and then put into a place where you don't know them, right? It gives you a sense of not belonging to a man. But let me tell for all of us. I don't care who turns their back on you. I don't care what situation or who disappoint you you always belong to the family of God. You always have family in for those were feeling lonely in the midst of a bunch of people know that you have family. I don't know who I'm talking to right now, but whoever it is know that you belong and God cares about you. No, no. No, I want you to grab that and then say you know what that was for me if that works for you. Say that works for me. This is now in because she belongs to him. The power of the life-giving spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.

There is a power that's working in. Medium it's working inside of you. That's pulling you and me for what was killing us to what's going to make us a lie. There's a power on the inside of us that that God has given to us because he loves us so much that says I don't want you in this place of sin and that I want you in the place of Life enjoy. So there's a struggle that we all have we want to do this in the Holy Spirit is pulling us here in the flesh is pulling up here in the Holy Spirit and sometimes it feels like it's a bad internally and yet we're called a smile in front of people. Never been there you struggling on the inside, but you still call a smile and be nice and and it's that power cuz. Don't want you in that place ascending death want you in the place of joy in life. He said in the text says he said there's a power of the life-giving spirit that has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death. That's why he says don't worry about that you there's no judgement because you have been set free. Whatever that thing is that little guilt that little issue that little problem let it go because the power of the life-giving spirit that is in us has freed us from the guilt.

Week 1 verse 3 says the law of Moses or the Commandments was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do he sent his own son and a body like the body's we Sinners hat and then that body got declared an end to sends control over Us by giving his son as a sacrifice for our sins The Ten Commandments. They can't get the flesh is too strong. Just think someone just like them to defeat this thing once and for all that's why he sent Jesus because we were still struggling. I mean before it was still trying to do the law and could never get it, right? There's a problem some of some religions want to throw you to the law and tell you the things that they can't do. Jesus came and broke all the dinosaurs for once. You know, I know what it's like I came in the same body and I'm going to destroy this issue over seeing forever. Are you with me should be that should somebody should grab that one and say you know what? I'm freak. Free I tried to do it. I tried to live right I tried to act right? I tried to talk later and I can feel it. Because I was trying to do it away. That's the law says do it. You know what you have to because I ain't trying to step on nobody's religion a man. But what I will say is this When Jesus came in the same body and she will not dealing with the flash just like you and I and he did not send he broke the spell dangerous. So we're free. Does that make sense? So now I can walk differently I can talk differently I can act differently cuz I don't have the weight of sin burdening me down. Does that make sense? Look at what it says in verse 4. He did this so that the just requirement the law will be fully satisfied for us who no longer follow our sinful nature. But instead we follow the spirit want to do want to do what he has set you free, if you just allow and he's all that guilt and condemnation that judgment only do it. We think it's more would think you'll do it when it comes to material things. That's nothing forgot. But I'm talking about the struggle woman Inside the many of us are dealing with I'm talking about the depression and anxiety in the frustration in the guilt in the problems that are happening on the inside that most people don't see on the outside until we're doing something that's destroying the temple a man trying to trying to put a bandaid on what is hurting on the inside. Only set you free on the inside your friend D won't he do it? Won't he do it? in Romans chapter 8 verse 3 in the message translation says a list of this the Bible says God went for the jugular when he sent his own son. He didn't deal with the problem is something remote and unimportant and his son Jesus. He personally took on The Human Condition entered the disordered mess of struggling Humanity in order to set it right once and for all the Long Cold weekend as it was always my fractured human nature can never have done that the law always ended up being used as a Band-Aid on ceiling instead of deep healing. So you don't have sometimes we tell you to pray about it.

We say you just need to not think about it. That's all Band-Aids. Right? But when you know that that whole situation has been destroyed and you are not obligated anymore. That's freedom. Won't he do it? Want to do it. Amen Romans chapter 8 verse 5 y'all still with me. Looking for S5 says those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about simple things.

When I was in the world and I use myself as an example. I didn't know the think about spiritual things. What's the think about worldly things things that impacted My Flesh things that I looked and I saw and I wanted that's all I do to think about what it was Fame Fortune money women in cars houses, whatever. It was. That's all I can focus on the Bible says that there was a reason why in the Bible says those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sympathy. Not that that's all I knew that's how I live how many people that's all they know they're not coming to church and not trying to hear about Christ cuz they're down in Boston or worldly desires are fleshly desires. Do you know anybody like that?

What the Bible says but those were controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the spear. See see there's a time for those of us who are believers when we return from the stuff in the Flash. And turn to the things in the spirit. I have the problem. Everybody around you don't want you to go there. Cuz I still want you to be what you used to be. You still want your following and doing the stuff you used to do but when you say I don't want to do that anymore. I'm looking to follow Christ then they don't know what to do. So the problem is not you the problem is this.

When you choose to start following at the things of the spirit that's going to separate you and put you apart from everything else cuz everybody knows what you used to be like. What you used to do?

Listen, man. Won't you come out and do this? We going to meet over here and do the interview trying to please the spirit?

I know you can come out. I know you can do this. Now. I know how women said I ain't even going to portray. Just coming out of I just wanted to sound right girl, whatever y'all say, you know, I can only I can only look at it from the male perspective cuz that's what I went through a man. Here's the deal. You got to know. Then when the spirit is calling you to follow after the spirit. You going to lose the Flash?

and those who are thinking And those who only want the Flash? Matter fact you going to have to figure out how to steal keep them? Continue to please the Lord because you need them to move over to thinking about the spiritual things as well. So you going to have to stand strong? When they call you to do whatever you used to do somehow with the Holy Spirit help you going to have to let them know here's a better life for me. Are you with me? And when you start to turn that corner? There's a freedom that you'll experience. There's a piece that you'll experience. There's a joy that you'll experience and they'll come to you and say amen. I don't know what you doing, but I want some of what you doing. That's when you can tell him. About Jesus Christ. Are you with me want to do it when he change? It won't change. I don't know. I don't know. Maybe y'all been save y'all all been saved all your life. Maybe maybe I'm the only one amen. But I'mma tell you when you make the change there's a free. But letting the spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. There's some things that I didn't even know. It was running my life. There's some people who headed who have influence on my life. I wasn't even aware of there's some folks or making clothing line that's having an impact on my life because I spend my money trying to buy the stuff that they were creating and then I come to find out they need to like me. Godzilla the movie there's some music and some TV programs and some politicians and whatever it is impacting my life and I didn't even know it. Hayden chair if I was dead or not. Play me one of those what they wanted out of me, which typically was the money.

It says so let your sinful nature control your mind will lead to death. But letting the spirit control your mind would lead to life in peace. Let me tell you something if you got drama in your life right now. You letting the wrong thing control your life.

I'm telling you now. I'm being real with you will know when the right thing is controlling your life because there will be peace in your life. There's going to be a joy in your life. You will know if then I went to that time where everything was chaotic in my life. No matter what I tried to do where I tried to go as always a problem. I thought I could create this world of mine. I thought it was going to be rising up to the level of VP in having the power and Prestige and that didn't do it. I thought it was having a big bank account and that didn't do it. I thought it was having people who like me but I realize they didn't only wanted to be around leaving for the stuff I had cuz they ain't even know me. So that didn't do it. but when I found Christ

there was a piece.

I can't explain it. It it made me uneasy. Because I never had that in my life. And I don't know about you, but it wasn't paying talking about that vacation piece. Will you go to Hawaii? I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about something on the inside. There was a calmness on the inside that the Holy Spirit gave to me in the midst of the storm. I will share with someone in the midst of a hectic time of my life. And for those of you don't know that's when my face dropped in my eye open like this, and it was stuck like that, and I thought that's how it was going to be for the rest of my life because I was too busy trying to run after the corporate world in the money in the thing cuz I thought that's what was going to give me. Peace. and it didn't and I was reminded of who really love me. It so I will tell you this if you allow on your mind to be control by Leslie things you going to have issues but the bible promises us that letting the spirit control your mind leads to a life of peace.

And if you want that you can let the spirit of God control your mind looking for 7. Here's a problem people wonder why folks won't do the right things. It says for the sinful nature is always going to be hostile to God. There's always going to be a, but or or I don't know about this or why what about this or there's always going to be some something when it comes to die. I don't know why we have to do this why we got her is always cuz the sinful nature is always hostile to God. So it makes sense to me is always struggling and don't want to give him because their flesh is still fighting. The Bible says it's for the sinful nature is always hostile. It never did. Obey God's law and it never will.

Trying to get Foster live right and do right who are being controlled by their Ashley Nae. They never will. That's why they keep doing the stuff that they're doing. Y'all know we were right there used to be me. You couldn't tell me nothing. My intellect made me think I was better. I didn't want to send cuz I use the oh, I'm humble. Will my interlock really made me think I was better. That was the sinful nature. You don't know we start doing this comparison thing or well, I got more money or my job is better or this that and we doing this comparison thing when it's really our sinful nature that's fighting God. And that's why I tell people this don't worry if you tell folks about Christ Jesus and they decide that they going to go off on you for whatever reason they not fighting you that's their sinful nature fighting God. So don't take it personally. It is nothing personal. He's going to give you peace in the middle of that won't he do it?

Look at the Bible verse 8.

That's why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please.

I don't care what you do for man or woman if it is not to give God glory. You can please God you going to get all the Adam boys out of girls. You going to get all the recognition that you can get here on this Earth, but it won't please God.

Are you with me? The Bible says those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God. And here's the deal you got to watch stuff is trying to control you. It's very subtle. Amen this in it. I mean, I'm you got to watch it cuz you got to watch what you want. Hey, man, you got to watch what you listen to you. Got to watch who you around because these subtle things will begin to control your thought process your joy steal your peace. And then have you acting in ways that God never intended for you that.

Do I have any Witnesses? Let me say this the spirit pulled the mind to spiritual things. I'm say that again. And all I can do is have you look at yourself. What is it you focusing on most of the day? Is it spiritual stuff or the fleshly stuff?

Because I know where my peace comes from. Are you with me? I know where my joy comes from. And I'm not fighting. Especially with folks whose nature already wants to fight against guy. It didn't make any sense. So the spirit pools the mind to spiritual things. Proverbs 23 and 7 the bible says for as he thinks in his heart, so is he

so whatever and I Channel 4 in the end, you know, my father's day. They kind of joking people around me know I say whatever is on the inside of you was going to come out. So you can only hide it for so long. You know, what whatever is on whatever is in your heart is going to come out but that's what you're thinking on. That's what you're planning on. That's what you you created everything that's on the inside of eventually come out. and always help people especially in premarital counseling I'm saying watch it because if you don't listen To what people are saying you going to be shocked when you say I do? Because what's on the inside will come out. a man Now let me say this is a liar there liar. Cuz it's on the inside. And sure enough they will lie to you. If they're thick their Thief. This is on the inside and sure enough there still from you. Let me know. I still owe you money, but they may steal your time. Let me steal your joy. Let me steal your peace. She can watch this whatever is on the inside. Is going to come out a man.

The Bible says for as he thinketh in his heart. So is he as a man thinketh in his heart? So is he think about that? What are you thinking about? Are you thinking about things of the spirit? Or things of the flesh because whatever you put in your mind on. That's who you become. Amen. So where you keep your mind and what you think about determine who you are and what you do if you keep your mind in the gutter, you become part of the gutter. If you keep your mind on what's good. You become what's good. If you focus on achieving and success, that's what you achieve and succeed if your mind is filled with religious starts, then you become religious if your thoughts and focus on God and God and his righteousness. Guess what you become Godly and righteous. A person becomes what he or she thinks about a man.

In the end in theology they call it the law of the mine. What you think about? That's what you become a man.

All right, y'all ready? So there is three things the three things the Bible talks about.

When it comes to the spirit and the human mind the first one you got to know this there is this thing called the carnal mind. And it's always warring against the spiritual mind. The carnal mind is the mind of My Flesh or my body. That's why they say you're being carnal minded. It means that I have allow my thought process to be given over to my flesh. And so all I'm going to do is focus on worldly things. That's what they call the carnal mind. The carnal mind is always in war against the spiritual mine and we both have them amen. So when all you think about is

You know what? I'm talking about a man, then there's the spiritual man. The spiritual mind is the natural mind of man that has been renewed by the spirit of God. Do you have a spiritual mind, but it needs God to renew it. amen Let me tell you this. We all get 24 hours in a day. We get 20 as long as we on this Earth and we wake up and we wake up the next day. Whatever that time is you had 24 hours. You choose what you going to do with them 24 hours? You choose what you going to focus on what you going to think about? You choose whether or not you going to spend time with God. Are you going to give it all to the world? It's your choice. That's the colonel versus the spiritual mind it. So when people come to me talking about I don't have enough time to tell him scuse me young people to put your life. You have chosen to spend your time thinking about worldly thing. You have chosen to spend your time. Thinking about things other than God that is your choice. So call it what it is you spending your time giving it to the world. And then for those of us who spend the night I'm giving it to God don't get upset. Don't get mad. Don't become the hater. Amen because God is taking care of those who spend time focusing on him.

And for those of you be careful who call yourselves. Christians are believers. Why don't you spend your time off?

You know, I used to hate this time. He just the messenger. Come on messenger. Just give the message. Well, the reality is this the same message applies to me that applies to all of us a man for all of us. We have to decide what we going to choose to spend their time doing. We can battle it all we want but guess who in the end going to win? At the end. Going to win. amen Look at look at the text in Romans chapter 8 verse 8. So then those who are in the plants. Can I please God? I can make it up. It's in the text. amen So we talk so here's the problem. We all want something from God. I want you to bless me. I don't want you to give me this guy don't want you to do this. I want to get time God I wanted but then he keeps saying you can't please me and I'm not going to continue to do that for you if you still in your flesh.

Please be the problem is this we want everything given to us but we don't want to do the things that we have to do to make the stuff happen.

Looking for a snack. Romans verse 9 Romans 8 verse 9. But here's the deal the Bible clearly says but you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the spirit. If you have the spirit of God living in you and remember that those who do not have the spirit of Christ Living in them. Don't belong with.

Just a continual battle if you say you belong to God and you don't have the spirit of God controlling your nature. At some point the stuff that you shouldn't you used to do you should want to do anymore.

At some point the stuff that you used to say you shouldn't want to say anymore. At some point the places you used to go. You shouldn't want to go anymore. It's some point if the spirit is controlling your nature, it should change you.

at some point I'm here. I'm a witness. I know he will do it. You do it. Yes. Yes, he'll take a thug from the westside of Chicago and make him a preacher won't he do it. I'm going to tell you how this man here.

This is there for me. I put up with stuff. I wouldn't even put up back in the day, you know for saying stuff and acting a certain way, you know, I was on a mission.

Cuz I thought the world revolves around me. Until everybody started dying around me. And I realize I had no control. But he gave me peace. Won't he do it? I want to do.

Won't he do it? He will take and make you brand new. The stuff you used to do you don't have to worry about anymore. You know, you can't have people talking about you going to come you can damn that you and judgment and you a hypocrite they can say whatever they want to say. I'm going to tell you what the Bible says. A man, that's why I say I don't I don't believe in what I feel. What I see. Cuz you know everything can be deceptive people are deceptive that your friend one day and then they talking about you behind your back the next amen, you know that people things can be deceptive. So I don't believe in that. I learned a long time ago. I used to trust folks.

But now I trust God.

And I was talking to a couple I said listen you getting married, but you can't trust it that person is going to love you. You have to trust you have to go to God and say God. I'm trusting you that you will touch this person and they will always love me.

That's too much pressure on a sinful nature. Oh you go and this is what always get me. What's that one? They saved my marriage and I think you ladies no offense, but you always said my life part. What is it called?

Oh my gosh, so me that one. That's my soulmate. You know, that one makes me complete and write until they make you upset.

Hey, man, what happened to your soul mates? This is the person that you know, you got to trust God, you know, what weather person or God God. I'm coming to you that this person going to do me, right? Whether it's in relationship friendship, even in church, you know sitting next to the person the person next to you. Got to trust God that that person don't treat you, right. Hey, man, you got trust God and everything. You got to look at God for everything. Cuz if you start looking at each other we can always be disappointed. But when we start looking like I will make you see that person the way you've never seen them before because he'll make it happen. They men won't he do it? I'm proud of y'all cuz it's going to get good.

What the Bible says in verse 11 the spirit of God who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you.

The spirit of God who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you. Can't nobody stop you. Jesus from the dead is in me. I'm talking about power.

And just as God raised Jesus Christ Jesus from the dead he will give life to your mortal bodies The Same Spirit living within you. That's why he said you will do exceedingly abundantly. He can do exceedingly abundantly more than you can even think or imagine. waiting If the power of the holy spirit that raised Christ from the dead lives in me, what can man do to you?

Maybe it's just me. I'm glad I was running I had to go and I have to sometimes when I get it. I have to go to the other office to come down cuz I still got a place of business and I can't be running around jumping and so I go there to calm down and then every now and then when I'm going to come in and say past, can you okay? I'm good. I'm good. I just had a moment with the spirit.

Look at the text. Are y'all getting this the spirit of God who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you?

Well, maybe the message was for me. Is what the Bible says, I mean, here's what when you look at that the spirit gives life to the spirit of the believe of the idea and the Greek made this verse if Christ being you is to die because it's in your spiritual live because of righteousness. I'm almost done for today in Romans chapter 8 verse 12. I need somebody to get this. Therefore brothers and sisters you have no obligation to do what your sinful nature urges you to do.

You it it might say you want to get angry, but you have no obligation to get angry. You don't owe your flesh nothing. You have no obligation to it. I have to give him a piece of know you don't. You can live in peace. You can ignore you have no obligation to your flesh the stuff that the world tries to make you think you should act and do and say and talk and walk you or you have no obligation to it. The Bible clearly says your brothers and sisters. You have no idea legation to do with your sinful nature urges you to do. And then it gives us a warning verse 13. But did you live by what it dictates you will die. But if through the power of the spirit you put to death the Deeds of your sinful nature you will live.

I have no idea we do it maybe it was just me. I was like God I have no obligation to what I took on the people said I needed to do an act and be like as a man.

I have no obligation to that. I don't have to be something for someone so that they will be happy and I'm miserable.

You don't have to continue to live based on what somebody else says you should be and how you should act especially as a believer. Obligated to the especially someone else who ain't save. Today the temperature what you think church should be anymore. I'm not obligated to how you think I should act if I want to praise God how I praise God, praise God. Game he set you free. So you can praise God the way you want to praise God. I'm not obligated to your rules and regulations about how I should praise God.

This thing won't work. If you trying to leave the spirit. And not allowing the spirit leads you.

To help make some amazing changes in your life if you allow him to lead you. What if you allow your flesh to keep rising up against it and you allow your flesh to keep battling it if you allow your flesh to keep telling, you know, this is what you should be doing as opposed to following what the spirit is saying. Can you always going to have challenges? But when you allow the spirit to lead you there is life. The battle for all of us is when our flesh Rises up and we just want to do what we want to do. Does that make sense? So many of us as Believers are struggling because we're not allowing the the spirit to lead us. We're trying to lead it and especially in areas where we just want to do what we want to do.

Bible says so you have not received the spirit that makes you fearful slaves.

When people don't want to admit it, but they're operating in fear. They fear fear succeeding fear failure fear people not liking them fear. You name it? It's a fear. In the Bible clearly says that's not the spirit that God has given to us that kind of fear. And when I say that text me to trust me when I look at this, I have to look at myself. Ask me. What are you afraid of? What are you operating in fear? What's keeping you from being all that I called you to be.

And it keeps creating these faces of fear where you know what I'm not going to ask anybody to do anything for me cuz last time I got disappointed but you know what? I ain't going to get into an intimate relationship because I'm going to get her before she gets me so you know what I'm not going to spend any money and I'm not going to do anything or cuz I don't I'm afraid to lose it.
