Lesson 2 (5 Commands) - How To Let Things Go
Jesus said to him, “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”
Let’s Be Honest
Perfect: being complete of its kind and without defect or blemish.
“If you would be perfect” - Let’s be honest, I’m not perfect. (I have defects and blemishes)
Go! (Command #1)
Go: To move away from a place into another direction.
Moving takes action.
to go away v. — to move away from a place into another direction.
What action steps do you need to take, to begin to move in the right direction?
God gives you Grace to take action.
Sell what you possess (Command #2)
Sell: to exchange or deliver something for money or its equivalent.

Possessions (Noun): The state of having, owning, or controlling something.

perfect adj. — being complete of its kind and without defect or blemish.
Grace Vs. Stuff
Give (Command #3)
Give: to transfer possession of something concrete or abstract to somebody.
Literally give to the poor
Give something up - completely
to give (transfer) v. — to transfer possession of something concrete or abstract to somebody.
And you will have treasure in heaven.
This is the exchange - Treasure in heaven.
Come (Command #4)
Come: To move toward a place; especially toward the speaker.
Give up my will
to come here v. — to move toward a place; especially toward the speaker.
Yield to a higher authority

Follow (Command #5)
Follow: to accept and follow the leadership, command, or guidance of; usually literal walking and following were involved as well.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
I must follow leadership - Who is in charge of my Life?
I must follow every command
I must follow His guidance
When I follow him first - It helps me follow everything else
