Key Bible passage second Peter 3;9
INTRODUCTION
During Harvey I was watching the news and the devastation that is storm at on the city of Houston while many people were rescued from their homes they were not a people who refuse to leave their homes even while they had an opportunity to be rescued. Earlier this week I was talking to a friend of mine at school and he told me that uncle was about to die I asked him did he believe in Jesus Christ? And he said that his uncle refuses the salvation of Jesus Christ. Throughout generations many people I refuse the salvation of Jesus Christ even back in the Biblical days this is nothing new. I know that you might be saying creature I believe that Jesus Christ was a good person I believe that you healed many people but I cannot believe that one person died for the whole world I just have a different perspective on that. Consider this my friends comes to God we don’t want our perspective we want God’s perspective to see God’s perspective open your Bibles to Luke chapter 23 versus 44 to 49.
What is of the Biblical Context for This Passage.?
According to the Bible commentary it states that
23:44. “All the earth” (KJV) means simply “the whole land” (NIV, NRSV, TEV). The “sixth hour” would come shortly before noon, the “ninth hour” shortly before 3 p.m.; crucifixions rarely ended so quickly. The latter time, when Jesus dies, is close to the time of the evening offering in the temple. Darkness was one of the plagues in Egypt () and occurs in the prophets as a judgment for the end time (often due to clouds of rain, locusts, smoke, etc.; ; , ; ; , , ; ; ; ).
23:45. The “veil” (KJV, NASB) or “curtain” (NIV, TEV, NRSV) is probably the one between the holy of holies—inhabited only by God, and where no mortal could enter except the high priest once each year—and the sanctuary where the priests ministered (). Although the point of the veil’s rending may be that God provides access for all people into his presence, it is more likely that it indicates instead the departure of God from the temple, as in .
23:46. This line from is said to have often been recited at the period of the evening offering—about the time of Jesus’ death. (Roman readers might, but probably would not, have read this verse in the light of a Roman custom in which the nearest of kin receives the dying person’s breath in his own mouth, ensuring the spirit’s survival.)
I

anybody that knows me knows that I like going to the movies one of my favorite movies of all time is called. Vantage point it’s about a president that gets shot for people saw this happen but they all saw a different perspective in we all we have different vantage points of Jesus crucifixion one of the best vantage points and perspective, came from one of the thieves on the cross verse 42 records the word Jesus remember me when you come into your kingdom I tell you the truth today will be with me in paradise. This man had the right perspective what of the on the other side this wanted to be delivered from the situation he wanted concern about his internal state how many people do you know that this?
II. SECOND MAJOR POINT: what is having God’s perspective on salvation?
1 that we know and understand that no one has the right to stand in the Almighty God’s presence without Jesus cracks see versus 20 through 23
and we must understand that the salvation of God through Jesus Christ is a guilt. See verses 8 and0 A. we must be willing to to fulfill the great commission versus 19 through 20 B. and understand that every by can tell him why the story about Jesus C. III. THIRD MAJOR POINT: if you were back in the time that Jesus was crucified which of these people that you could identify with? The wind wishes leaders they knew information about God but they had no interest and knowing his son Jesus Christ. Our that you identify with the Roman soldier recognizing that the Jesus Christ was an innocent person but not confessing him as Savior.
Or do you identify with the other these are on the cross going to deliverance from his situation? A. R do you have the perspective of Jesus Christ that said father into your I commit my spirit. B. C. CONCLUSION AND CALL TO ACTION
in my introduction I told you about my friends uncle that is about to die and his refusal to accept Christ. I don’t know this man. I will pray for you to change his mind. But what about you if you knew that you were about to die. And someone gave you opportunity to present price would you reject it on accepted? All of us today of something in common that we know one day we go to die. Now what we don’t know is which day that will be. That is why I love to repeat the following two-story. One day I was sitting at home watching the news news reports was the young lady got out of vehicle to see what was wrong with it, but while doing this she was hit by another vehicle and she fell to her death my question to you today do you think that got up that day thinking that this day would be my last? The obvious answer to this question is no. We all don’t know are last day on the earth. If you have a car I’m sure you need car insurance I’m also sure that if you have owned a house it has been a good idea to get any type of housing both insurance are needed as long as we live on the earth. How much more do we need a relationship with Jesus Christ. I believe that this is important is the greatest insurance that anyone could have and the fact that it is free to make us appreciate it that much more. That you are not we don’t have to pay for because Jesus paid it all. Amen
