Truth Shall Set You Free ()
“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
One truth is that we don’t have to overpower the devil, we just have to out-truth him.
Father of lies!
One truth is that we don’t have to overpower the devil, we just have to out-truth him.
Father of lies!
We have all the power we need – “The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, 19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power…”
“Believe, declare, and act upon the truth of God’s Word, and you will thwart Satan’s strategy.”
What’s his strategy?
Deceive, divide, and destroy.
A Progressive Strategy:
1. Know the truth: “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
2. Recognize the Truth: “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
3. Trust the Truth: “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.”
4. Study the truth: , “I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.”
5.Wear the truth: “Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth…”
6. Think on the truth: “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true… think on these things.”
, God deals with truth; “But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost…” Satan got in the ear of Ananias and convinced him to lie.
Only the lie wasn’t to Peter and company, it was to the Holy Ghost.
It is no different for us.
That’s why it’s important that we take every thought of our imagination captive; bringing it under the authority of Jesus Christ.
().
So the Truth is supposed to set us free, but how?
1. Jesus has triumphed over the enemy: “And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”
2. Jesus has power over the enemy: “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.”
3. We sit in heaven with Christ and possess His authority: “But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:”
“Affirming the truth of Christ’s victory and Satan’s defeat is the primary step to successfully stand against the enemy’s attempt to intimidate you.”
We have to remind him that he is a defeated foe of God.
Next, if Christ, having all authority is seated in heaven, and we are seated with Him we need no other authority than Christ Himself.
Freedom in Christ is our inheritance. .
Thus we don’t need to defeat the devil, we don’t need to overpower the devil.
We don’t even need to engage him.
All we need to do is speak the truth.
I wonder how many people are in some sort of bondage here today.
How many people are under oppression from the devil?
How many are struggling to believe and speak the truth against this adversary.
What is it that you don’t believe?
Do you not believe that you are a child of God; joint heirs with Christ?
Do you not believe Jesus Christ is the risen Saviour of the world?
Knowing truth, what do we do with it?
We affirm it.
– We claim the promises of God
We speak it.
– We let our lives speak it
We share it.
– We tell someone about Jesus
