Start off looking at some scriptures where Jesus prayed – all the time.

Lloyd-Jones – “The supreme object of prayer should be to glorify and magnify God and that is why we must always start by worshipping him. The model prayer does that: ‘Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come …’ Not, ‘Give me this little request …’ No, you start by worshipping. It is the personal relationship; you pray because you like the person, because you want to show your respect to the person, because you delight to be in the presence of the person—that is the essence of prayer.”
