I. We Have These Gifts Because of Christ (v.7)

A. His grace affords us the gifts (7a)
not because of our own selves
not because we deserve them
without Him we would be ineffective
grace - favor/help/care
we are given strength in our times of weakness
inspiration in our times of difficulty
assurance in our times of despair
courage in our times of fear
joy in our times of sorrow
comfort in times of loneliness
B. They are His gifts to give (7b)
He has enough to go around
they are not to be misused
Appreciate the gift God has given you
Transition: We can better appreciate our gifts when as we remind ourselves daily that it is because of Christ we have gifts and lastly of the significance of our gifts.

II. We Have These Gifts for The Work of Christ

A. These gifts are not accidental
they are in the plan of God
, Paul quotes this verse to establish the fulfillment of prophecy of all Christ had done for the Church
B. Our gifts are purposed for the Church
God has given us each an ability to contribute to his church
Our gifts are to bring Him glory
ILLUSTRATION: When we receive gifts from people we often cherish them so much we dare not destroy them. We place them in special places and we never give them away.
So should our attitude be with our God given gifts. We must cherish them, use them, be effective with them. Never give them away! Don't give your gift to the world.
- Don't forsake the church with your gift
- Don't forsake God with your gift
Conclusion:
Jesus didn't forsake you nor me
He died for the sake of the Church
He died to empower you and me
