Lk 16:1-15. Tony van Drimmelen. How much does love matter? Jesus is saying our love towards others means we will have friends who welcome us into heaven. He makes the point that our love needs to outstrip and completely demote any other kind of love, especially a love of money. Jesus tells the story of a manager who looks after his own interests by exploiting his master’s interests. He makes a lot of friends quickly. Amazingly the manager is commended for his actions by his master. Then Jesus turns the story on its head and applies it to the “people of the light” (v8). What works so well in the world of commerce works an even better “deal” in eternity.
