See, we, He
The miracle is not just an act of compassion (He did not perform miracles in a vacuum - pointed to the truth of Who He is)
See
This is on the heals of the light of the world
This is an act of compassion - but Jesus didn’t just want to give a blind man sight. That alone would reveal His power and glory - in other words, it would display the work of God in this man and the miracle
This is a metaphor for salvation (amazing grace)
But once we are saved - eyes of faith/eternal eyes/eyes of faith - we are to live with those eyes wide open - we are to live SEEING. Seeing God at work (He worked in this miracle and all the miracles - to point to Himself, to SAVE) - God is still at work, and He is at work to save!
We
Who must work?
“As the Father has sent me, so I send you”
And Moses said to the people, “Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again.
psalm 90
And Moses said to the people, “Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again.
