Walk by Faith
Walk by Faith
7 for we walk by faith, not by sight—
Ever wonder about God’s plan for you? Or maybe you know but don’t know how it is ever going to work out. Or, maybe yet, you have and idea but not the details, what do you do? - WALK BY FAITH
1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
or in another version
1 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
Scripture has a lotto say about God’s plan, as I just read Heb11:1, God’s plan takes faith, a great example is Abraham
8 By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed by going out to a place which he was to receive for an inheritance; and he went out, not knowing where he was going.
Without knowing he was going. NOW THAT IS FAITH
(insert coming to TX story of faith) - job uncertainty
Maybe you are wondering what does God want to do with me now?
What can I do at my age?
What does He expect of me?
Maybe you are in the middle of one of those pondering questions, if not I’m pretty confident you will be. God did not create us to be comfortable He created us to be conformable so change is constant. Maybe you are in the midst of something you don’t understand, or don’t see how God is using this for His glory. Then faith is what is called for. WALK BY FAITH
I know we all would love to know exactly what God’s plan is for us, but that could not require faith would it? we are called to
7 for we walk by faith, not by sight—
2Cor5:
We live by faith, we walk by faith and when we walk by faith our faith is displayed to others so that they may come to have faith, the hope that is in you.
How about Samuel, called as a boy, do you think he knew Gods plan?
How about David, a shepherd boy, youngest in his family, do you think he comprehended it when Samuel anointed him as king as a child?
Heb11 is full of people who walked by faith and not by sight.
we need to have confidence in God’s plan and that He will work it out
28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
We must step up and out by faith, we need to step up and prepare ourselves for what God wants to do. Seek Him through His Word, Seek Him through prayer, Seek Him through godly counsel. Pray, meditate on the scriptures. I know I sure was not sure I was prepared to take on the position here, but God was and put people in my path to remind me it was God’s plan, God’s way, and God’s timing and to stay the course.
The Bible gives us lots of examples but does not give us a blue print to follow for Gods plan for your life. Salvation yes, but not for your life, your time on earth. There is no A, B,C’s to follow to show you specifically but try this.
Ask - ask God, seek Him as mentioned before
Be ready, be confident - by faith be confident that He will bring it to be and be ready to step out in it, even before you fully understand it.
Chose to commit - Be committed to your faith, to God’s plan even when on the surface, or what you see, does not make sense. God knows the big picture an He might not even equip you until you make yourself available, its about availability not ability.
Don’t always try to figure out God’s plan; search for God’s heart.
Do you want the answer or do you want to know the One who knows the answer and follow His plan?
Application: when was the last time you really stepped out in faith? Totally trusting the outcome to God? Remember today, Ask, Be ready, commit even when you don’t see the road in front of you, step out in faith.
