Our Father

When we come to God we don’t come to a distant, out of touch God.
But when we come we come to our Heavenly Father
it is an intimate relationship
Many of us have this view of God being distant on His Holy thrown
not know our weakness
not knowing our lives and the difficulties that we face
to busy to hear us
But when we couldn’t get to God he came to us
Jesus says His purpose
Luke 19:10 ESV
For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
and then Jesus says you can come and make your request known to God almighty and He hears and sees
Don’t be like the hypocrites
Matthew 23:27 ESV
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people’s bones and all uncleanness.
God knows our fallenness which is why Christ came
we don’t have to pretend everything is perfect, when we come to God
Matthew 6:5–15 ESV
“And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. “And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Jesus says when we make our request we begin with “Our Father”
Father-

(a Greek transliteration of an Aramaic word meaning ‘father’): (titles for God, literally ‘father’) one who combines aspects of supernatural authority and care for his people—‘Father.’

God doesn’t just want to be a distant figure on a throne
But He Says He “God our father”
What Kind of father do we come to?
Matthew 6:26 ESV
Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
Are Heavenly father values us
Who created us and made us in His image
Who demonstrates His love for us in that
Romans 5:8 ESV
but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
We come to a Father who so love us He came and took a cross for our sins, for our brokenness
Matthew 7:11 ESV
If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
What better Gift could we even ask for then the gift of salvation?
While we were dead in our sins God sent the gift of His Son- the gift of the Cross
Romans 6:23 ESV
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
then the gift of the Holy Spirit active in our lives
taking the dead fruit from our former lives and giving us the fruit of the spirit in our new redeemed lives.
Isaiah 61:3 ESV
to grant to those who mourn in Zion— to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit; that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he may be glorified.
And again in Galatians
Galatians 5:22–23 ESV
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
God is a good Father who Deuteronomy 31:6 says “ will never leaves us nor Forsake us.
A Father who loves us with a sacrificial love
a father who hears our cries and come to our rescue
A Father who came to seek and saves us while we were lost
And as Psalms 68:5 says
Psalm 68:5 ESV
Father of the fatherless and protector of widows is God in his holy habitation.
Psalm 10:14 HCSB
But You Yourself have seen trouble and grief, observing it in order to take the matter into Your hands. The helpless entrusts himself to You; You are a helper of the fatherless.

How is it that we can come and Call God almighty Father?

what have we done to deserve this?
Romans 8:13–17 ESV
For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.
We have been adopted in God family
we are Sons and Daughters of God
Adoption-
Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament based on Semantic Domains 35.53 ἀναιρέομαι; υἱοθεσία, ας

to formally and legally declare that someone who is not one’s own child is henceforth to be treated and cared for as one’s own child, including complete rights of inheritance

God has declared WE are His!

You see once we were dead in our sins and just follow the current of the world
Ephesians 2:4–5 ESV
But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—
Christ has come and made us His own
1 Corinthians 6:20 ESV
for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
Ephesians 1:4–5 ESV
even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will,

There was an adoption price that was paid

Romans 5:8 ESV
but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
2 Corinthians 5:21 ESV
For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Isaiah 53:4–5 ESV
Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.
Christ paid the price that we could come to God and cll Him Father
