The Great Commission

The Great Commission

Matthew 28:18–20 ESV
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Mark 16:15 ESV
And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.
Luke 24:44–48 ESV
Then he said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, and said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance for the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.
Tell the Gospel including the whole story of Humanity
Adam and Eve (The separation), to Abraham (The Promise), to Moses (The covenant), The time of Judges (365 years of ups and downs), The Time of Kings (The time of division and ups and downs) The time of Prophets and The exile, (adding to the law), the prophets. Jesus Christ the Messiah, and the new covenant.

This new covenant is special in that it does not rely on rules and regulations, law and punishment. It relies on the work of Jesus once for all to engage Father God with humanity. Through Jesus we are invited to a relational connection that relies on a cognitive, heart response to who He is in us. That produces righteousness both mentally and behaviorally. and gives us access to His presence now and eternally.

John 20:21–23 ESV
Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld.”

The Heart of the commissioned

1 Peter 3:15 NIV
But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,

1 Peter 3:15 NASB95
but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence;
1 Peter 3:15 AMP
But in your hearts set Christ apart as holy [and acknowledge Him] as Lord. Always be ready to give a logical defense to anyone who asks you to account for the hope that is in you, but do it courteously and respectfully.
1 Peter 3:15 The Message
Through thick and thin, keep your hearts at attention, in adoration before Christ, your Master. Be ready to speak up and tell anyone who asks why you’re living the way you are, and always with the utmost courtesy.

but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior;
