33 I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
Need some encouragement today? Feel like God is keeping at a distance? Ever wonder if He is really in control of what can seem to be a chaotic world with no order? The entire book of Esther shows us His presence when it seems He is absent.

It gives me great comfort to know that He has perfectly purposed, planned, and performed every little detail of our lives. We have seen this very thing in the last chapter of Esther as God’s presence and perfect timing became even more evident.
The Bible is inerrant, infallible, inspired, and a living and breathing truth provided as a love letter to all of us. How many times would you go back and review a special letter, email, or text as you sought encouragement during difficult times? As we move now to Chapter 7 and conclude our study of Esther, we can see some things that God wants us to know.
Nothing Surprises Our God
Nothing Surprises Our God
known from of old.’
God is never surprised.
God is never surprised.
To be surprised you have to be uncertain about what is coming. You have to be ignorant. God is never ignorant about the future or about anything. He is never uncertain about what is coming.
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
God does as He pleases, and that which pleases Him is always for His glory and our good.
God does as He pleases, and that which pleases Him is always for His glory and our good.
As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.
God will set things right.
God will set things right.
But when I thought how to understand this, it seemed to me a wearisome task,
until I went into the sanctuary of God; then I discerned their end.
Psalm 73:
Unspoken Lessons About the Unseen God: Esther Simply Explained Chapter 7: This Is the Day (7:1–8:8)
On any particular day remarkable developments and answers to our prayers may take place as God chooses to unfold his will, and demonstrate his care. On any day God may be at work in ways that we are not in a position to perceive. He weaves into the pattern of his will the actions of all his creatures, whether wise or foolish.

Satan’s Schemes Will Be Destroyed
Satan’s Schemes Will Be Destroyed
Satan wants us to doubt God when our prayers seem to go unanswered.

We have the Word of God and prayer as tools against him.

4 For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.
Let’s read as God’s presence in the book of Esther continues ...
Esther prayed.
Esther prayed.
16 “Go, gather all the Jews to be found in Susa, and hold a fast on my behalf, and do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my young women will also fast as you do. Then I will go to the king, though it is against the law, and if I perish, I perish.”
Haman trembled.
Haman trembled.
Haman trembled.
4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.
1 So the king and Haman went in to feast with Queen Esther.
2 And on the second day, as they were drinking wine after the feast, the king again said to Esther, “What is your wish, Queen Esther? It shall be granted you. And what is your request? Even to the half of my kingdom, it shall be fulfilled.”
3 Then Queen Esther answered, “If I have found favor in your sight, O king, and if it please the king, let my life be granted me for my wish, and my people for my request.
4 For we have been sold, I and my people, to be destroyed, to be killed, and to be annihilated. If we had been sold merely as slaves, men and women, I would have been silent, for our affliction is not to be compared with the loss to the king.”
5 Then King Ahasuerus said to Queen Esther, “Who is he, and where is he, who has dared to do this?”
6 And Esther said, “A foe and enemy! This wicked Haman!” Then Haman was terrified before the king and the queen.
Esther 7:
Esther prayed
16 “Go, gather all the Jews to be found in Susa, and hold a fast on my behalf, and do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my young women will also fast as you do. Then I will go to the king, though it is against the law, and if I perish, I perish.”
Demonic forces come to attention when people get into God’s Word, but they have a greater fear than Bible study. They shudder when God’s people begin to pray.
“Our weapons have power from God that can destroy the enemy’s strong places” (). Satan is not troubled when Max writes a book or prepares a sermon, but his knobby knees tremble when Max prays.

God’s Purposes Will Prevail
God’s Purposes Will Prevail
He goes before you. He will not leave you or forsake you.
He goes before you. He will not leave you or forsake you.
He goes before you. He will not leave you or forsake you.
8 It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”
He is greater than what is against you.
He is greater than what is against you.
16 He said, “Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”
16 In the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab, king of Israel, when Jehoshaphat was king of Judah, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, began to reign.
16 And they said to him, “Behold now, there are with your servants fifty strong men. Please let them go and seek your master. It may be that the Spirit of the Lord has caught him up and cast him upon some mountain or into some valley.” And he said, “You shall not send.”
He will guide and protect you.
He will guide and protect you.
1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
He is trustworthy.
He is trustworthy.
6 So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”
He will rescue his people from sin and reverse its deadly effects.
He will rescue his people from sin and reverse its deadly effects.
7 And the king arose in his wrath from the wine-drinking and went into the palace garden, but Haman stayed to beg for his life from Queen Esther, for he saw that harm was determined against him by the king.
8 And the king returned from the palace garden to the place where they were drinking wine, as Haman was falling on the couch where Esther was. And the king said, “Will he even assault the queen in my presence, in my own house?” As the word left the mouth of the king, they covered Haman’s face.
9 Then Harbona, one of the eunuchs in attendance on the king, said, “Moreover, the gallows that Haman has prepared for Mordecai, whose word saved the king, is standing at Haman’s house, fifty cubits high.” And the king said, “Hang him on that.”
10 So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then the wrath of the king abated.

When we know victory is His, we do not have to fear evil. In those times when we fear being at the mercy of evil in the form of an abuser or a terrible circumstance or a corrupt leader, we can take comfort in the fact God has already won and this temporary evil is just that: temporary.
We can take comfort in the fact God has already won and this temporary evil is just that: temporary.
