Walking in purity(shuddhataa):

In verses 1-16 we looked at Unity
From verse 17 we are looking at Purity(shuddhata)
Till verse 24, he is speaking very generally(saamaanya rupamaa)
Now Paul gets into some specifics(bishesh rupamaa)

Lies

Ephesians 4:25 KJV 1900
Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.
“Yaskaaran jhuTalaai phaalera timiharu harekle aaphno chhimekisit saancho nola; Kinaki haami ekarkaakaa angaharu haau.”
The first and obvious command is to stop speaking lies
This sounds too simple(saamaanya), easy
But for many people, lies are a used every day
Lies about why we were late for work
Lies about what we heard or saw
**officer, I didn’t see that you were telling me to stop
Lies to make excuses(bahaana)
**traffic, but you slept late
Lies to save money
**parking times*
Lies for doing less(kam) work
**I worked till this time!
Lies on our documents because we will look bad
Or it will make more work
We think these are just small lies
People say “He is clever”
He is doing something God hates

But God hates lies!

Proverbs 12:22 KJV 1900
Lying lips are abomination to the Lord: But they that deal truly are his delight.
“Jhuto bolne oThaharu ParamPrabhukaa nimti ghrinata hun; Tara sachhaai-sanga byabahaar garneharu uhaakaa ananda hun.”
The lies that come out of our mouths defile us
They hurt our relationship with God
Matthew 15:18 KJV 1900
But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
“Tara ti kuraaharu, jo mukh-baaTa baahira niskanchhan, hridaya-baaTa niskera aauchhan, ra tinle maanis-laai ashuddha paarchhan.”
Do you want to follow the Lord
Do you want a close relationship with God?
Don’t do what they hate!
Giving Grace spiders

Lying brings trouble!

Proverbs 12:19 KJV 1900
The lip of truth shall be established for ever: But a lying tongue is but for a moment.
“Saancho bolne oTh sadhai’ sthir bani-rahanechha; tara jhuta bolne jibro kshan-bharko laagi ho.”
There are many movies about this
Someone tells a lie to help themselves
Then it causes so much trouble for them in the future
The whole movie, they are trying to fix it.
Not just from people around us
God says there is a punishment for liars
Proverbs 19:19 KJV 1900
A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: For if thou deliver him, yet thou must do it again.
Proverbs 19:9 KJV 1900
A false witness shall not be unpunished, And he that speaketh lies shall perish.
“Jhuto sakshi danDa napaai chodinechhaina; a’, jhuTa bolne naash hunechha.”

Satan is the father of lies

John 8:44 KJV 1900
Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
“Timiharu aaphnaa baabu Shaitaan-baaTa-kaa haau, ani aaphnai baabukaa kuichhaaharu pura garna chaahanchhaau. Tyo shurudekhi nai hatyaaraa thiyo, ani satyamaa rahena; Kinaki tyasmaa satya chha’dai chhaina. Jaba tyasle jhuTa boldachha, taba tyo aphnai-tarpha-baaTa boldachha; kinaki tyo jhuta ho, ra jhuTako baabu ho.”
When we speak lies, we are doing the work of the Devil
We are taking supplies from him and using them
We should put away lying!

But there is more than just: “Stop speaking lies”

We are to speak truth to our neighbours
“For we are members(angaharu) one of another”
This is referring to brothers and sisters in Christ
But this is not an excuse to lie to unbelievers(other passages)
We should always speak the truth
Not just if they ask us
Have a Bible verse on the tip of your tongue
Have the truth of God in your heart and on your lips(oTha)
Always consider God’s thoughts on the matter/work/decision(Chhinachhan)/act
For speaking truth, we must first know(jaannu)/study(paDnu)/consider truth
When truth is burning in our hearts, we cannot stop speaking truth
**Timothy and his airplanes
Neighbors should say, “Always speaking from the Bible!”

Wrath

Ephesians 4:26 KJV 1900
Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
Eph
“Risaao, tara paap nagara; Ghaam astaaunu-bhandaa pahilyai timiharuko ris maros.
Anger - strong displeasure, lasting, basis for action
Wrath - stronger, impulsive(aaweg-purna), more emotional(bhaabuk)
We know that anger is not enjoyable(ramaailo) when we receive it.
But we also know that God can be angry. And God does no sin!
Psalm 103:8 KJV 1900
The Lord is merciful and gracious, Slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.
Exodus 34:6 KJV 1900
And the Lord passed by before him, and proclaimed, The Lord, The Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,
So what is righteous anger?
So what is righteous anger?
So what is righteous anger?
What is righteous anger?
Anger that is not sin. What does it look like? What reasons?
Righteous anger is being angry like God is angry.
Same reasons.(not of flesh)
Same manner(tarika)
Let’s look at God’s anger:
God is not fundamentally(mulataah) angry.
He is fundamentally(mulataah) righteous(dharmik) and holy.
God’s anger comes because of his supreme righteousness(dharmikataa).
Because people directly oppose him in sin.
Psalm 7:11 KJV 1900
God judgeth the righteous, And God is angry with the wicked every day.
Righteous anger is being angry at what makes God angry. And “righteous anger” is the right word order. Because God is not fundamentally angry. He is fundamentally righteous. God’s anger is a byproduct of his righteousness.
Our anger should not come from our flesh, but because of our love of righeousness.
The things that God hates, we should hate too.
Because anger of sin comes to God, anger of sin can come to us also.
Because of truth, not emotion(bhaawanaa) or feelings
There are things that we should not be happy about
But because of truth, not emotion(bhaawanaa) or feelings
When our anger and wrath is
driven by truth,
example of God’s anger,
When our anger is driven by truth and does not bear sin
does not cause sin
There is no problem
When our anger is out of control and driven by the flesh/fear/emotion
Righteous anger is controlled(nitantran garinchha) by love
Righteous anger is slow.
It does not come easily
We do not jump into it
But when the wrath continues long, it is driving us!
It is out of control
This is sin
This is sin
This is not of God
This allows the devil control
Ephesians 4:27 KJV 1900
Neither give place to the devil.
Ephesians 4:26 KJV 1900
Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

Stealing

Ephesians 4:28 KJV 1900
Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.
We know this, but it is an important reminder
Many people think that stealing is ok if they are sneaky(chhali)
This passage, like the others, shows the opposite of stealing
Working, helping, earning, and giving
This is God’s plan for us
Outside of this plan, you are dangerously close to stealing
This also tells us more about stealing
Laziness is a way of stealing
Gambling is a way of stealing
When you win, someone loses
You are taking from them without giving something good in return
Stealing

Corrupt communication

Ephesians 4:29 KJV 1900
Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
