God's way or the highway!

From the beginning God has told man this, "NO it's My way or the Highway.”  God demands total obedience and nothing less; total commitment and nothing less.  Total surrender to His will and nothing less will do.

Look at Genesis 2:15-17 and Genesis 3:17-24

Because Adam chose not God's way, Adam had to take the Highway and lost it all.

Next we look at Abraham.  God told Abraham that he and Sarah would have a son.  Sarah could not grab hold of the promise of God, and talked Abraham into taking her slave Hagar, to have a child by.  Hagar gave Abraham a son named Ishmael, and Abraham said to God, "Oh, that Ishmael might live before you!"  God Told Abraham, "NO"  It's My Way or the Highway!  "Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; I will establish My Covenant with him for an everlasting covenant and with his descendants after him."  The promise was for Isaac, not Ishmael.  God did hear Abraham, and blessed Ishmael.

Gen. 17:17-21

Sarah still could not grab hold of the promise of God; she did not think it was possible.    Sarah laughed within herself about what the Lord told Abraham.  Sarah thought that that the Lord did not know her thoughts.  Gen. 18:12-15

God sees everything; even that invisible thought, that unbelief, that which you hold back from Him, You can not hide from God anything nor anywhere.  Adam and Eve tried to hide from God after they ate of the tree of good and evil. (Gen. 3:8)  It did not work then and it will not work now.  Sarah tried to hide the fact she laughed at this promise, but again the Lord said, "NO, but you did laugh!"

God has not changed and will not change, He still demands Obedience!  John 15:10 our Lord states this fact.  Still saying "It's My way or the highway"

9 “As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. 10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.  (John 15:9-10)

Jesus said in John 15:12-14 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. 14 You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.

Our Lord commanded that we love one another as He loved us.  He did not say to fight with each other!  Our Lord is still saying "it's My Way or the Highway."

“If you love Me, keep My commandments. John14:15 Our Lord is saying if you love Me, "it’s My way or the highway.

Nehemiah, told the Hebrew leadership, how good God was and how He had caused the king to show him favor, and to leave to rebuild the protective wall around the city.  When Sanballat, Tobiah, and Geshem laughed at them and despised them; Nehemiah told them that the God of heaven Himself will prosper us, therefore we will build.  Nehemiah chose God's way, and not the highway.  Nehemiah 2:18-20

1st John 4:20-5:5   John tells us that it is God's way or the Highway!  If you say "I love God," and hate a brother or sister (another Christian) you are a liar, for if you do not love your brothers and sisters who you have seen, then how can you love God who you have not seen.  And who are our brothers and sisters?   "Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God."  For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments.

There is no half-way Christian; Christians that hold back anything; "lukewarm" Christians make the Lord sick.  Look at Revelation 3:15-16:

15 “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. 16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.

God's way is to everlasting life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.  John 3:16

The Highway is to the lake of fire.  Revelation 20:15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

Brothers & Sisters can we stop fighting over who is the “Greatest?

Luke 9:33-37

33 Then He came to Capernaum. And when He was in the house He asked them, “What was it you disputed among yourselves on the road?” 34 But they kept silent, for on the road they had disputed among themselves who would be the greatest. 35 And He sat down, called the twelve, and said to them, “If anyone desires to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all.” 36 Then He took a little child and set him in the midst of them. And when He had taken him in His arms, He said to them, 37 “Whoever receives one of these little children in My name receives Me; and whoever receives Me, receives not Me but Him who sent Me.”

Its God’s Way or the Highway.
