We’re coming up on the holiday season. We may be interacting a bit more with our neighbors (pray for more interaction). Hopefully, we’ll be meeting with our families at Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.
God’s providence has allowed these gatherings for connecting, catching up, and seeking to minister God’s grace into the lives of the people that God has allowed us to be surrounded by. May we carefully steward each relationship and conversation for God’s glory!!
And while these conversations are amazing and can be used to allow you to share your testimony or to meet various needs for others, or to defend the faith, all of these things combined are not actually evangelism.
In order for actual evangelism to happen a very specific and powerful message has to be communicated.
To evangelize, you have to tell others that:
• God is holy (). He is the creator of all things ().
• All people are sinners who deserve God’s righteous, eternal wrath (; ; ).
• All people are sinners who deserve God’s righteous, eternal wrath (; ; ).
• Jesus Christ, who is fully God and fully man, lived a sinless life, died on the cross to bear God’s wrath in the place of all who would believe in him, and rose from the grave in order to give his people eternal life (; ; ; ; ; ).
• Jesus Christ, who is fully God and fully man, lived a sinless life, died on the cross to bear God’s wrath in the place of all who would believe in him, and rose from the grave in order to give his people eternal life (; ; ; ; ; ).
• The only way to be saved from eternal punishment and be reconciled to God is to repent of sin and trust in Jesus Christ for salvation (; ).
• The only way to be saved from eternal punishment and be reconciled to God is to repent of sin and trust in Jesus Christ for salvation (; ).
We can talk till we’re blue in the face of how or why we don’t evangelize (scared, too costly etc.)
Yet according to Bill Bright of Campus Crusade for Christ, “Only two percent of believers in America regularly share their faith in Christ with others.”
That means 98 percent of the professing Body of Christ is “lukewarm” when it comes to obeying the Great Commission.
