Let the Redeemed Say So
Let the Redeemed Say So
107 O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
2 Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;
2 Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;
3 And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south.
3 And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south.
4 They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in.
5 Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them.
6 Then they cried unto the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses.
7 And he led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation.
8 Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
9 For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.
10 Such as sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron;
11 Because they rebelled against the words of God, and contemned the counsel of the most High:
12 Therefore he brought down their heart with labour; they fell down, and there was none to help.
13 Then they cried unto the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses.
14 He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and brake their bands in sunder.
15 Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
In our text this morning we have the psalm dedicated to praising God for continued deliverance, grace and mercy. It is not mentioned who pinned this psalm. However it is safe to say this psalm was pinned by someone who has experienced God’s grace and mercy! Looking at the structure
1. The Call to Praise (1-3)
2. The Cause of Rejoicing (4-32)
3. The Consequences of Obedience and Disobedience (33-42)
As this Psalm opens there is a statement to give thanks unto the Lord for He is good: For his mercy endureth forever. In other words if His mercy never runs out and he will never stop being good, then we should never stop praising God! For He is good and His mercy never fails!
In the next section he focuses on the redeemed of the Lord. He focuses on those whom the Lord has brought out. In other words there is a qualification that must be met before the text becomes applicable to the reader.
This is only for those that can the Lord has brought me out not I’m still in it!
1.) Those who were lost in the wilderness. (v.4-9)
2.) Those who were imprisoned to sin. (v.10-16)
3.) Those that were sick (v.17-22)
4.) Those that have dealt with the storms of life! (v.23-32)
5.) You have a reason to give God praise! (Oh that men would praise his name!) (v.8; 15; 21; 31) Hang on to the hook of the song Oh that men would praise his name!
