People came from far
Mark 1:5 KJV 1900
And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.
It was a priority, important
Getting good preaching, encouragement, fellowship
Was more important than
Working in fields
Parties
Family visits, etc.
People came to get right
Mark 1:5 KJV 1900
And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.
Baptism and confession
This wasn’t just play time, a party, or a place just to be seen
It was serious
A place to get right with God
Came despite rough appearances
Mark 1:6 KJV 1900
And John was clothed with camel’s hair, and with a girdle of a skin about his loins; and he did eat locusts and wild honey;
This was about the spirit, not the flesh
About substance, not style
People were not worried about
Appearance, comfort, form
But the power of God!
