Text:

Christ Cleanses Ten Lepers

11 Now it happened as He went to Jerusalem that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. 12 Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off. 13 And they lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”

14 So when He saw them, He said to them, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed.

15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, 16 and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan.

17 So Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? 18 Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?” 19 And He said to him, “Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well.”

as we get ready for the Holidays one of the thongs that we should do is remember that we all have something to be thankful for
if you woke up this morning their is an opportunity. 24 This is the day the LORD has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.
many of us are given to pouting because the things i thought would fulfill me have not.
We will rejoice and be glad in it.
some of us are not happy because we aren’t were we want to be.
let’s look at the players:
Samaritans were looked down upon by the Jews.
Leprosy, a highly contagious skin disease that the old testament law, that would require a person Believed to have leprosy were cast out of society entirely.
no family or anything. on top of that if you started coming into the city while you were still afar off people would have to point and shout unclean.
then of course there is jesus. life changing Jesus.
dealing with the text:
(NKJV) 12 Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off. 13 And they lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”
They asked for the healing they recieved.
12 Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off. 13 And they lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”
(NKJV) 14 So when He saw them, He said to them, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed.
14 So when He saw them, He said to them, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed.
He granted their request and told them to step out in faith.
(NKJV) 15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, 16 and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan.
there were 9 presumably Jewish. the one who came back was considered less then, is the only one who came back to say thank you.
15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, 16 and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan.
last night i went to a wedding, it was a small wedding and the reception, took place in small restaurant, was small but the food was not cheap and the couple that was married paid for the meals of the whole wedding in attendance.
have you ever felt uncomfortable with an unexpected gift?
let me ask you, is your life today a gift?
has God done anything for you ?
are you thankful for what he has done?
