Romans 10:17 KJV 1900
17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Romans10.17
Adrian Rodgers - send two letters one is crisp and on good colored paper.
The other is crumbled and hand written. The crisp one is mailed without a stamp the crumbled one has a stamp.
Which one gets delivered?
Its not the elegance and the form of our prayers that get delivered but that stamp of faith.
Pray and believe and you will receive
pray and doubt and you will do without
Think about faith :
What ever we accomplish in the Christian life will be based on our faith:
Matthew 9:29 KJV 1900
29 Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.
It will not be according to our fame or our fortune
Faith is the medium of exchange in the kingdom of heaven.
What we receive from God we receive by faith
Faith is the greatest stub
Faith is the greatest asset we have and unbelief is the stumbling block.
Unbelief is the mother of all sins:
It caused Eve to sin in the garden
It locked the doors to the promised land
It prevented Jesus from performing miracles in His hometown
Matthew 13:58 KJV 1900
58 And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
What is the sin that sends people to hell? unbelief
John 3:18 KJV 1900
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
unbelief
Unbelief shuts the door
What Comes by Faith
Salvation -
Romans 5:1 KJV 1900
1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
Victory over the world
1 John 5:4 KJV 1900
4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
Victory over Satan
Ephesians 6:16 KJV 1900
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
lack of faith
worry - God you cant handle this
Loneliness- God seems far away
Guilt- we don't trust God for forgiveness
Disobedience - we don't belive God will just us

I Definition of Faith

Hebrews 11:1 KJV 1900
1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Perhaps no other component of the Christian life is more important than faith.
Question: "What does the Bible say about faith?"
Perhaps no other component of the Christian life is more important than faith.
We cannot purchase it, sell it or give it to our friends. So what is faith and what role does faith play in the Christian life?
The dictionary defines faith as “belief in, devotion to, or trust in somebody or something, especially without logical proof.” It also defines faith as “belief in and devotion to God.” The Bible has much more to say about faith and how important it is.
In fact, it is so important that, without faith, we have no place with God, and it is impossible to please Him (). According to the Bible, faith is belief in the one, true God without actually seeing Him.
There is no power in faith alone, faith in what ?
faith in what ?
Misplaced faith is dangerous
It not faith that moves mountains but faith in God
It not positive thinking
Mark 11:22 KJV 1900
22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
You faith is better than you object
Romans 10:11 KJV 1900
11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
Romans 11:22 KJV 1900
22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.
Mark 11:22 KJV 1900
22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
We are to look unto jesus for our faith
Hebrews 12:2 KJV 1900
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
When we want to cross the bridge and you are not sure it will hold you might be afraid and make yourself believe.
Just look at the bridge and and all the trucks going over it.
When you see and understand what the bridge can do its easy to cross the bridge.
When we see who God is , when put our faith in God! Then our faith will grow.
Adrian Rodgers
Up in the northern parts near the source of the Mississippi, it was a bitterly cold winter, and the Mississippi River had frozen over. There was a man who, rather than going to the bridge, decided he would walk across the frozen ice. He didn’t see anyone else out there. It looked so crusty and so thick. He said, "I believe I can walk across. I won’t have to take the journey down to the bridge," and this man began to walk across that river on ice. When he got a distance from the shore, he looked at the other shore and thought, Maybe I ought not to be out here. Maybe this ice won’t hold me up. If I fall through, they’ll never know what happened to me. I’m a fool. What am I doing out here? And as he turned around to go back to the other side, he said to himself, "I better walk softly." Then he thought, I better get down on all fours, so I won’t put my weight in any one place. Then he said to himself, :"That’s not enough. I better lie down and squirm across. I may go through the ice. What a fool I am. My wife will never know what happened to me." He began to whimper and cry, and then he heard it, a roaring, cracking sound. "Oh," he said to himself, "The ice is breaking; I’m a goner." He put his face down. He began to pray, "God save me; help me Lord." The noise got closer and closer- that rumbling and roaring- but the ice didn’t seem to be breaking. He looked up, and there was a man with a team of horses with a wagon loaded with logs driving across that river. That was the noise he heard. When he saw that, he jumped up and brushed off the ice and took his stroll across the rest of the river.
What was the difference in these two men the man on the horse knew the ice.
The reality of faith is knowledge of God.
You want to have strong faith ?
Don’t try to make yourself believe . Get to know God.
Psalm 9:10 KJV 1900
10 And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: For thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

II Where does faith come from?

Where does faith come from? Faith is not something we conjure up on our own, nor is it something we are born with, nor is faith a result of diligence in study or pursuit of the spiritual. makes it clear that faith is a gift from God, not because we deserve it, have earned it, or are worthy to have it. It is not from ourselves; it is from God. It is not obtained by our power or our free will. Faith is simply given to us by God, along with His grace and mercy, according to His holy plan and purpose, and because of that, He gets all the glory.
Ephesians 2:8–9 KJV 1900
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

In order to have have you must hear from God.
Romans 10:17 KJV 1900
17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
faith then comes - you don't generate it it comes.
Philippians 1:19 KJV 1900
19 For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,
Philippians 1:29 KJV 1900
29 For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;
Notice it is granted.
Now one can believe unless God enables them to believe.
Notice it is granted.
Illustration - its a gift ; its given by God!
Romans romans10.17
Faith is not getting mans will done in heaven but getting God will done on earth.

III Why is Faith So Important?

Hebrews 11:6 KJV 1900
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Why have faith? God designed a way to distinguish between those who belong to Him and those who don’t, and it is called faith.
Why have faith? God designed a way to distinguish between those who belong to Him and those who don’t, and it is called faith. Very simply, we need faith to please God. God tells us that it pleases Him that we believe in Him even though we cannot see Him. A key part of tells us that “he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” This is not to say that we have faith in God just to get something from Him. However, God loves to bless those who are obedient and faithful. We see a perfect example of this in . Jesus is engaged in dialog with a sinful woman when He gives us a glimpse of why faith is so rewarding. “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.” The woman believed in Jesus Christ by faith, and He rewarded her for it. Finally, faith is what sustains us to the end, knowing that by faith we will be in heaven with God for all eternity. “Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls” ().

luke 7.50
Luke 7:50 KJV 1900
50 And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.
“Your faith has saved you; go in peace.” The woman believed in Jesus Christ by faith, and He rewarded her for it.
Finally, faith is what sustains us to the end, knowing that by faith we will be in heaven with God for all eternity.
1 Peter 1:8–9 KJV 1900
8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: 9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
According to the Bible, faith is essential to Christianity. Without demonstrating faith and trust in God, we have no place with Him. We believe in God’s existence by faith.
Our faith can falter at times, but because it is the gift of God, given to His children, He provides times of trial and testing in order to prove that our faith is real and to sharpen and strengthen it. This is why James tells us to consider it “pure joy” when we fall into trials, because the testing of our faith produces perseverance and matures us, providing the evidence that our faith is real ().
James 1:2–4 KJV 1900
2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; 3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. 4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
What Am I asking you to Know?
