Complete Thanksgiving

Main Idea: God deserves our thanks.

Psalm 100 NKJV

A Psalm of Thanksgiving. Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing. Know that the Lord, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.

Motivating Idea: The presence of God is manifested under the umbrella of thanksgiving.

A. Thanksgiving includes a joyful noise. (v. 1)

B. Thanksgiving includes service. (v. 2a)

With Gladness…not gloom.

Gladness = Jubilation

C. Thanksgiving includes coming to the Lord. (v. 2b)

with singing = exultation

rarely do you hear someone singing with a bad attitude or negative spirit.

2 Chronicles 31:2 NKJV

And Hezekiah appointed the divisions of the priests and the Levites according to their divisions, each man according to his service, the priests and Levites for burnt offerings and peace offerings, to serve, to give thanks, and to praise in the gates of the camp of the Lord.

D. Thanksgiving includes knowing. (v. 3)

E. Thanksgiving includes entering His presence. (v. 4a)

Psalm 116:17–19 NKJV

2. Why does complete thanksgiving matter? (v. 5)

A. God is good. (v. 5a)

B. God’s goodness never quits. (v. 5b)

C. God’s truth lasts forever. (v. 5c)

Hebrews 6:13–18 NKJV
