Illus: There are two kinds of Christian believers: those who marvel and those who are marveled at.
Greatness comes to the Christian when he becomes committed to the cause of Christ.
There are two kinds of Christian believers: those who marvel and those who are marveled at.
Greatness comes to the Christian when he becomes committed to the cause of Christ.
Athletes become great when they make a total commitment to their sport.
They fully understand the need to do what is best for their bodies.
Their commitments become a matter of life and death.
The committed athlete enjoys a challenge but is always pressing for even greater challenges.
Greatness comes to an athlete who is willing to sacrifice everything.
It is easy to settle for a marginal life.
Most people do.
But God has a better plan for His people: greatness—the kind that comes only through a life of commitment!

Appl: We must obediently serve Christ with the security of knowing His will shall be done.
Don’t become easily sidetracked by the oppositions in life.
Live securely in your present position of commitment to Christ.
Don’t panic, don’t get frustrated and become immobile.
Trust the will and process of God in your life.
Transition:
Paul’s Security in His Future Position in Christ (v.21b)
“and to die is gain”
To spend eternal life with Jesus
Even in death Paul understood his life to be secure
He looked forward to being with Jesus
Paul planned and prepared himself for eternity
Illus: How strong is your perception of eternity?
How strong is your perception of eternity?
We live in a day and time where medical technology has made great strides by keeping people alive who years ago would have died.
There are both positive and negative points for the Christian believer to consider.
For example, look at the life of a young lady whom we will call Karen.
At the prime of her life, Karen was stricken by a devastating disease which put her in a coma.
Years went by as she lay asleep.
The only thing keeping her alive was a series of tubes.
Karen’s parents finally made the difficult decision to turn off the life-support machines and remove the tubes from their daughter’s wasted body.
Their decision was not easy.
It was so hard to let her go.
But it was bearable because of Karen’s commitment to Christ.
When she finally left this world, she fell into the arms of her loving heavenly Father.
When you let go of this old world, will you fall into His arms also?

Appl: Living today as believer we must prepare for our eternal destination with Jesus.
Do you ever consider what it means to be in the arms of Jesus.
We have become so caught up in what happens now but we gain when we see Jesus. the only way to gain is to make him your savior.
Is Christ your savior?
