Charlie’s word on Tuesday evening...
God wants us to draft with him....
Race Car Video
Drafting
This is a picture of how we should be with God
He leads, we tuck in behind and follow
Alot of us do not feel like we are being shielded from the winds of life
Prayers not answered
Relationships not well
Presence of God in our life seems non existent
WHY…?
Instead of God being in front of us guiding our path and opening the way
We are in front of God
Living our lives according to:
What we think is right
How we want to react
Follow God and he will make the race easier
God knows what needs to be done to walk in a broken world
He gives us the secret to escaping satan’s tricks
Teaches us how forgiveness destroys the enemy’s hold of bitterness and anger
Teaches us how being kind to our enemies actually causes them great conviction
Teaches us how not to worry- when the whole world is suffering an epidemic of anxiety
ANXIETY GRAPH
Teaches us how generosity to others actually causes God’s hand of provision to open to us
Teaches us that we are loved…even when we are unlovely…OR are being told we are unlovely
A study of more than 3,000 adolescent girls showed that seven out of 10 believe that they are not good enough.
They feel they aren’t measuring up in terms of their appearance, academic performance and personal relationships.
The same study showed that 75 percent of girls with low self-esteem have engaged in “negative activities
such as disordered eating,
cutting, bullying, smoking, or drinking when feeling badly about themselves.”
over half the girls tested said they had a mother who criticized herself.
When parents look in the mirror in disgust,
When they vocalize what a failure they are or simply don’t feel good about how they’re living their own lives,
They are serving as models for their child’s developing sense of self.
This self hatred and feelings of inferiority, not measuring up
Ephesians 2:10 NLT
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
How do we draft with God so that we are not facing these negative forces in life
How do we get close and follow God.
Jeremiah 29:12–14 NLT
In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. I will be found by you,” says the Lord. “I will end your captivity and restore your fortunes. I will gather you out of the nations where I sent you and will bring you home again to your own land.”
What is keeping you captive…?
What has stolen your fortunes (way of life..normality)
The disciple James echos the same thought 700 years after Jeremiah
James 4:8 NLT
Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.
Who are we going to follow
Who are we going to draft with
Bible says
Proverbs 16:3 NLT
Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed.
Commit your actions? (roll your burdens onto God)
What does this mean?
One should submit all his deeds to God for his assessment.
Furthermore, if one heeds this admonition, his “thoughts shall be established.”
The very act of submitting deeds to divine appraisal is evidence that the thoughts of the heart are sincere.
The plans and deliberations are undertaken according to the will of God, and directed by his guidance...
They will then succeed
Obeying God with how we live releases the power and abundance of God in our life
John 21:3–6 NLT
Simon Peter said, “I’m going fishing.” “We’ll come, too,” they all said. So they went out in the boat, but they caught nothing all night. At dawn Jesus was standing on the beach, but the disciples couldn’t see who he was. He called out, “Fellows, have you caught any fish?” “No,” they replied. Then he said, “Throw out your net on the right-hand side of the boat, and you’ll get some!” So they did, and they couldn’t haul in the net because there were so many fish in it.
